About us
Rhaeos is a VC backed, clinical stage medical device company developing FlowSense, a platform technology and a noninvasive wireless, wearable skin patch that can assess and monitor fluid flow subdermally throughout the body. The company is initially targeting hydrocephalus, a life threatening condition caused by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Implantable shunts, the gold standard treatment, often fail, leading to multiple trips to the emergency room and repeat surgeries. There is no technology available today that can easily assess CSF flow in shunts wirelessly, bedside, and without capital equipment until now with FlowSense. FlowSense, is a proprietary wireless, wearable, and noninvasive sensor that can be mounted on skin overlying the shunt to detect the presence and magnitude of CSF. Its miniaturized, thin construction is similar in size to a bandage, and it is composed primarily of soft, silicone rubber with no hard edges. Data is wirelessly transmitted to a custom designed mobile app. Rhaeos received FDA breakthrough designation for FlowSense, is NIH and NSF funded (>$7.5M), published clinical data in Science and Nature family journals, and is on track for initial market entry in 2024. To date, the company has brought in >$19M in dilutive and non-dilutive financing. Follow on products for other chronic conditions are currently in development.

A double header week for Rhaeos! Last week, we exhibited at the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Pediatric Neurosurgery meeting in Oklahoma where we received a lot of interest in FlowSense and got to connect with some of our collaborators in person and met new ones! Then we ended the week at the Illinois Spina Bifida Association Holiday Party, an event we proudly sponsored. We love getting out there and showing our devices to our valued stakeholders! Everything we do, we do with purpose. It’s not just a job. We’re on a mission to have an #impact on those affected by hydrocephalus. #hydrocephalus #spinabifida #neurosurgery #shunts Hydrocephalus Association Illinois Spina Bifida Association Amanda Garzon Diana Gray, MA Kurtis Auguste Dave Limbrick Adam Zysk Chad Webb Anna Lisa Somera Chase Correia Nikhil S.
