Rear Adm. Grace Hopper, a trailblazer in computer science and a visionary in the U.S. Navy, paved the way for countless women to follow in technology and through service in uniform. Her work on early computers and the development of programming languages revolutionized computing, and earned her both the Defense Distinguished Service Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Today, Hopper continues to inspire new generations, something that is always evident at AnitaB.org's annual Grace Hopper Celebration. This year, members of our team will be joining this gathering of women technologists in Philadelphia on October 9-11. If you’re there, feel free to reach out to Divya, Aishwarya, Kelly, Sai, or Shubhashree to learn more about Rhombus – and know that in our hiring, we are looking for tomorrow’s cadre of Grace Hoppers to shape the future of defense through advanced technology. #GH2024 #WomenInTech #GraceHopperCelebration ——— Anshuman, Dr. Sangram, Sarah, Abhishek, Tirthajyoti, Ellen, Leo, Syed, Kelly

The United States has produced some remarkable uniformed leaders who are also management gurus, always looking for new ways to drive operational efficiency and innovation across the force. Wherever he served, Adm. Chas Richard always distinguished himself in that tradition – as Commander, Submarine Forces, Norfolk; Director of Undersea Warfare (OPNAV N97) at the Pentagon; Deputy Commander of Joint Functional Component Command for Global Strike at U.S. Strategic Command; Director of Resources on the staff of the Under Secretary of Defense (Policy) – and, ultimately, as Commander, U.S. Strategic Command. What a career in uniform. Now, out of uniform, Adm Richard is sharing his wisdom with the next generation. He put pen to paper about the opportunity and challenge of integrating AI into military decision-making alongside Rhombus CEO Dr. Anshuman Roy in the U.S. Naval Institute's “Proceedings” journal: https://lnkd.in/eQqq74ek — Dr. Sangram Ganguly, Sarah Cowan, Abhishek Sharma, Tirthajyoti Sarkar, Ellen Chapin, PhD, David Wade, Syed Faraz, Kelly Morris

“But most importantly, we asked for an authority that allowed us to seek exemption to any rule or regulation that would slow us down.” Whether the Manhattan Project of WWII or the Corona Project during the Cold War, innovators on a mission have always depended on leadership that empowered them to cut through red tape and do things differently, unburdened by bureaucracy. In a really provocative interview, Raj S. details the early days of the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU)— then called DIUx given its experimental nature— and the way Secretary Ash Carter’s vision and expertise in breaking through logjams equipped this nimble bunch to succeed. Tune in to the latest episode of The Defense Tech Underground Podcast to hear for yourself many lessons learned driving the defense innovation ecosystem forward. https://lnkd.in/ePZg3Zzm ——— Stanford Gordian Knot Center for National Security Innovation

What could trigger escalation and military conflict involving the United States in the South China Sea? On CBS 60 MINUTES, Ray Powell, longtime friend of Rhombus, answered this question and detailed the importance of the Philippines in our strategic competition with China. https://lnkd.in/e6AT8aZ3 Building and deploying tools for decision-advantage and early warnings for the U.S. and our allies — like the Philippines— is key to predicting and potentially mitigating Chinese aggression in the Indo-Pacific. — Anshuman, Sarah, Abhishek, Tirthajyoti, Stan, Joe, HR, David, Syed, Kelly

“Senior military decision-makers need the chance to appreciate AI’s ability to improve everyday outcomes today, not in some science-fiction future.” Too often, AI is either hailed as a solution to everything or the road to dystopia. For military leaders, we need a better discussion grounded in the ways AI is already transforming decision-making today, not tomorrow. Admiral Charles Richard, former Commander of USSTRATCOM, published a thought-provoking piece with our founder and CEO Dr. Anshuman Roy in the U.S. Naval Institute's “Proceedings” journal about the tools available today to empower decision makers with essential decision advantage. 23 years later, and 9/11 remains every bit as poignant. For those who experienced September 11, 2001 as adults— let alone those who lost friends and family in New York, at the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania— or those whose lives were changed forever by all that was set in motion that day, this will always be a day of reflection. At Rhombus, it is a day to pause and honor lives lost — and also to remember that being an American is precious, but never free. We strive to live up to the responsibility that comes with the privilege of living in this great country and the work we’ve embraced together for the national security enterprise. We all live on to build a better, safer world in memory of those we lost— with a fierce determination to do our part to prevent the next 9/11.

We're looking forward to being a part of this important discussion about the vital US-India partnership, which has strengthened in recent years and is critical to shaping the Indo-Pacific — an essential part of the world into which an ambitious China is rising. Technology will be an essential, even decisive, component of this partnership. Rhombus CEO Dr. Anshuman Roy looks forwards to being part of the dialogue during his session on Tuesday.
