About us
RIANA, funded by Horizon Europe, is pioneering the future of nanoscience and nanotechnology through a dual approach: fostering long-term, curiosity-driven research and enabling targeted, challenge-driven projects for immediate to mid-term impact. Central to RIANA is the ARIE network, connecting seven European networks of top-level Research Infrastructures (RIs) to offer comprehensive access to advanced techniques in nanofabrication, processing, characterization, analysis, and simulation. This collaboration provides customized access to 69 infrastructures through a single entry point, supported by a robust scientific and innovation service led by a mix of senior and junior scientists. RIANA is designed to empower research and innovation, from academia to industry, propelling ideas to higher Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs). Flexible and adaptive, it addresses emergent scientific needs alongside the Nano-community, offering additional infrastructures access and specialized services. With four years of experience, RIANA is crafting a roadmap for the European nanoscience and technology future, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and sustainability. Our offerings encapsulate the full nanoscience and technology chain, from simulation to synthesis and analysis, supported by a centralized user office and a dedicated Science Service team. This ensures optimum technique selection, experiment operation, data analysis, and innovation support, particularly for SMEs, aiming to upscale their technologies and processes. Join RIANA in shaping the future of nanoscience and nanotechnology, driving forward European research and innovation.

📣 Register now for our upcoming Laserlab-Europe Talk: ‘Laser illumination in classical and super-resolution multicolor microscopy’ by Adrien Mau (Abbelight) 📅 25 September 2024, 4:00pm CEST 📌 Register now: https://lnkd.in/dSKkdSfS 🎬 Watch all previous Laserlab-Europe Talks on our YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/eHTvBdiw Microscopy is the art of observation of the infinitely small. However, one cannot observe an object without collecting light from it, and thus first sending light at it. We will present how laser illumination coupled to smart optomechanical devices improved the traditional sample illumination methods. Notably, our company Abbelight has pushed ASTER, a strategy which delivers homogeneous and versatile illumination via fast control of laser positions. This will be applied to the principle of fluorescence microscopy, which allows to image specific biological structures. Moreover, specific properties of light propagation can be used to perform optical sectioning, such as oblique imaging and TIRF. Finally, the high power of lasers coupled with the adaptability of ASTER can be used in Single Molecule Localization Microscopy, an innovative field that can yield resolutions down to tens of nanometer but typically require high laser power (2kW/cm²). By coupling a variety of strategies and making best use of our laser light, we can perform super resolution imaging on wide fields of view, with 3D modalities and for up to three different biological structures. Abbelight is partner of the EIC Transition nanoSCAN Project. The project aims to transform tissue analysis with a novel 3D spatial biology platform that provides crucial insights into cellular and tissue functions. #microscopy #imaging #illumination #spatialbiology #eictransition
