Join RMTA as we honor Hispanic and Latinx communities' rich cultural traditions, vibrant diversity, and invaluable contributions during Hispanic Heritage Month! The Hispanic community has made significant contributions to the transportation industry, such as: 🤝 Leadership: Nuria Fernandez became the first Afro-Latina to lead the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in 2021. Federico Peña was the first Hispanic American to serve as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation in 1993. 🛣️ Infrastructure: Latinos have been vital to building and maintaining America's railroads since 1884, significantly contributing to Union Pacific despite facing challenging and often unfair working conditions. ✍️ Advocacy: Organizations like Latinos in Transit and the Transportation Diversity Council advocate for greater diversity and inclusion in transportation. Of course, the list goes on. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

It's International Day of Charity, and we're celebrating The Valentine and their dedication to capturing and telling Richmond’s story. For generations, The Valentine has preserved the stories that define our city, from the days of streetcars that first connected our communities to the vibrant urban landscape we know today. Just as The Valentine connects us to our shared past, we work to ensure that Richmond’s roads and infrastructure continue to connect people and places, driving our city forward. Join us in supporting The Valentine and their mission to make Richmond’s history accessible and engaging for all. 🤝🫶

School is in session! 🍎✏️ Here are a few tips to remember when taking your children to school: ➡️ Make sure your child buckles their seat belt as soon as they get into the car ➡️ Drive extra slowly through school zones, following posted speed limits ➡️ When a school bus is stopped, you must also stop, making sure children have fully crossed the road before driving again.
