Rise Early Learning Center has been invited to speak at a third national/international conference this year - this time focusing on our use of "Third Spaces," I thought I would give a little preview! When we designed Rise Early, we wanted to challenge the idea that a childcare center is a place where parents "leave" their children. Instead, we wanted to create spaces that felt cozy, inviting, and drove families to hang out for longer. I often compare this to the results Target saw when they added Starbucks to their stores - suddenly customers spent longer and longer at the store, except with Rise Early the outcome isn't heightened sales, it's the opportunity for parents to build their village. As part of our architectural design, we included nooks throughout the building with seating, engagement opportunities, and conversation starters. Our "Den," "Nest," and "Stream" areas offered spaces beyond the classrooms where we noticed parents lingering to check in with each other; getting to know other children, and sending the clear message to their own families that Rise Early was a space they could feel safe in. We've also seen these spaces naturally expand to offer small group opportunities throughout the day- a chance for children to explore and a tool for them to use in self-regulation skills-building. I'm glad we have the chance to continue sharing lessons learned, and building upon the positive change that we get to see in our center.

One focus of the Rise Early philosophy is the expectation that our classrooms will always be a reflection of the children who spend their days in the room; and that our environments must be inspiring, inviting, and cozy. We're excited to share our incredible program with the community.
At Rise Early Learning Center, we had our pre-licensing visit last week. It went wonderfully - the Rise Early educators have put so much effort into making their classrooms warm, inviting, and engaging for their students. We're so excited to welcome children into our program on January 3rd in our infant, toddler, and preschool rooms. I'm so proud of everything that this center has become and will be; and that this dream is becoming a reality! Here are a few pictures of our classroom environments:
