Can a machine harbor the soul of an artist? This question leads our latest discussion with Harvard professor and acclaimed artist Matt Saunders. It's not a simple question to answer. Creativity is a complex concept and we have to dig into the many ways that word could be defined. Who better to ask about creativity than someone who is both an accomplished artist himself and an instructor at one of the most distinguished art schools in the country? Matt is a Professor of Art, Film, and Visual Studies at Harvard University. His art has been featured in exhibitions around the world, and the list of museums with his work in their collections includes the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and many other names that you would likely recognize. Matt's art is grounded in the material - particularly painting, but in most of his work you can see how he challenges himself to push back against the idea of a static rectangle of paint-on-canvas and create something more dynamic and transient - something more like an experience than an image. That same resistance to conventionality comes out in our conversation about AI, and it leads us to some brutally honest conclusions about how we view the techno-obsessed world around us. Matt is a very thoughtful and inspiring person, and this interview is easily one of the more impactful conversations I've had in a long time. https://lnkd.in/eCgUjx6J

After two months of silence, we are back with a new episode! I chat with Larisa A. about the evolving landscape of paid advertising. Beyond AI, we explore profound shifts in internet interaction, urging businesses to adapt strategies to changing search habits across generations. While I remain a cynic in so many ways, the discussion imagines the positive transformative impact of technologies like AI on our world. The next few years are going to be interesting! https://lnkd.in/es3nV9_y

In an upcoming episode (all about paid advertising, next Wednesday) I was asked how I search (i.e. interface with Google). My answer gave us all a good laugh, because I'm nobody's average user. BUT. . . the impact on the conversation was anything but funny. The way we interface with the internet is constantly evolving. The stark differences between generations (X, Mil., Z, A) are crazy when you dig in. And so far we have little-to-no guidance on the future of paid advertising. So how do you search?

🚨NO EPISODE ALERT!🚨 Instead of talking about the future of business and technology, let's talk about the future of the show! This podcast is a passion project for everyone who works on it, and passion is an understatement. You might be thinking that a missed week is a sign that the wheels are falling off or that the burnout is setting in. . . and you would be wrong! But some things are changing: 1. We're moving to a bi-weekly schedule. 2. We're tweaking the format. 3. We're branching out. Be on the lookout for changes in next week's episode, and be ready to see new, informative content from us here and on our other channels (YouTube!). Thank you to everyone who listens, and thank you to those who have shared feedback. See you next week! --Sam

New Episode Alert! We often assume that everyone faces the same problems we do and that the solutions are found in the same old places. This habit restricts our options and deprives us of fresh, innovative perspectives. In this week's interview, I talked with Harold Hughes, the visionary founder of Bandwagon. He's not your typical Silicon Valley Ivy Leaguer, and his fresh perspective is exactly what we need more of in order to bring better, more creative solutions to market. We talked a lot about blockchain and the many ways it can be used - as a way to supercharge your brand, as a means of feeding our affinity for collecting, and even as a check and balance to generative AI. This was a fun discussion that I hope you enjoy as much as I did. #blockchain #NFT #AI #entrepreneurship #diversityintech https://lnkd.in/ge2JvbmD

My friend and colleague Erin Durham joined me this week for another look at #AI, #Branding, #Empathy, and #Responsibility. In our last episode, we emphasized the power of retrospection in fostering growth and innovation. So we’re looking back on the last two months of interviews and applying what we’ve discussed: - Revisit your core values and guiding principles. - Extend a helping hand to those who may be falling behind.   - Optimize your business and thought processes. We're calling it a "retrospective," and it's an excellent capstone for this first batch of interviews. https://lnkd.in/gSq35Kva
