Do you live in Charlotte, NC? Are you a good writer? Do you want to help strengthen a high school student's college essay? Do you want to have fun? If you answered "YES" to one or all of these questions, I have an opportunity for you! On Thursday, September 26, 2024, and Friday, September 27, 2024, our Road to Hire high school students will work on writing college essays. We seek in-class (in-person) writing support across our seven CMS schools - Garinger, Hawthorne, West Mecklenburg, West Charlotte, Julius Chambers, Phillip O Berry, and Harding. What would support look like? Glad you asked! It's really simple, I promise! You will read over student college essays and provide basic insight/suggestions on possible revisions, grammar/mechanics, and/or formatting. I have created a sign-up sheet (https://lnkd.in/gwCi4i5n) for volunteers to use to sign up for a slot or slots that best fit your schedule. The deadline to sign up is Friday, September 20th.

The latest Ally Tech Enrichment Experience, powered by our Bridging the Digital Divide Program (BDD), was held for 60 rising college sophomores with the Road to Hire “Career Explore” program. Students visited the Ally Charlotte Center (ACC) where they participated in an interactive financial education workshop. Students also learned about the company internship program and heard directly from our intern & early talent teammates who discussed their career journey and tips for success. With digital inclusion being a core part of our community engagement strategy, our BDD program is designed to help close the digital equity gap in underserved communities. Greetings LinkedIn, Our Last Vist during the Road to Hire Career Explore Internship Progam was to Equitable. Equitable is a prominent financial services firm committed to assisting individuals and organizations with retirement planning, life insurance, and financial management. During our visit, we explored the company’s background and gained insight into their proficiency in 403b retirement plans, budgeting, saving strategies, and life insurance. We had the opportunity to hear from a panel of speakers and participated in small group discussions with Equitable employees, covering topics such as financial literacy, taxes, and the importance of retirement savings. This visit was a perfect way to wrap up my internship. I am deeply thankful to both Road to Hire and Equitable for offering such valuable experiences and insights. These experiences have provided me with knowledge and skills that I will carry forward as I advance in my career. #RoadtoHire #Equitable #CareerExplore

Greetings LinkedIn, Our next company visit during the Road to Hire Career Explore Intership program was to Truist. Truist is a prominent financial services firm and they hosted us for an enlightening experience, offering an inside look at their workplace. Our visit kicked off with a comprehensive tour of the headquarters, where we explored different roles and career paths available within the organization. A standout moment was engaging in a financial literacy simulation, where each of us was given a hypothetical job and salary, and then challenged to develop and manage a budget based on our income. This exercise was both insightful and educational, underscoring the significance of financial planning and budgeting for our future. #Truist #RoadtoHire #CareerExplore

It’s been a long year, moved to a new building and it came with a promotion! Congratulations to Renzo Prieto and Laura Monroy on moving up alongside me, we’ve learned a lot and I’m super proud of all the work we’ve put in to get here. I wanna thank Chuck H. for being an amazing manager and one of the biggest supporters of our growth. It’s a great feeling as well, being on a team full of extremely busy people who not only take time out of their day to assist in our growth but actively advocate for it and teach us more along the way, I really can’t express how much I appreciate all of you. Thanks again to Road to Hire for your continued support and outreach.
