Recharting the course and consequences of substance use disorder in our community
About us
The Roanoke Valley Collective Response to the Opioid and Addiction Crisis (RVCR) mission is to re-chart the course and consequences of substance use disorder in our community—not only preventing but ensuring that there are always pathways to healthy and sustainable living for those affected by addiction. Launched in September 2018, the Collective Response is a multi-sector approach working across systems to find new and effective strategies to solve the opioid and addiction crisis across the Roanoke Valley. RVCR members span law enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, healthcare, local and state government, education, community support organizations, faith community, business community, and individuals and families personally touched by addiction.

Don't forget, you can join us in-person at Carilion Children's on Tuesday, February 27th, for a funding workshop with SAMHSA. Register with the link below! SAMHSA recognizes that the federal grant process could be daunting without guidance. In particular, organizations may find it more challenging in underserved communities to secure a federal grant. This may contribute to inequitable access to invaluable behavioral health resources for individuals in need of these services across the nation. Consistent with the agency's commitments to advancing equity, SAMHSA is launching a new effort to advise community-based organizations about the agency’s resources. Dr. Kurt John, Chief Financial Officer and Office of Financial Resources Director at SAMHSA, along with two grant technical experts, will be visiting various regions within the United States to provide insight about SAMHSA’s funding opportunities, grant application process, and resources available to help grantees administer their award. https://hubs.ly/Q02mjlgy0

Yesterday, the First Lady of Virginia, Suzanne Youngkin, and Attorney General, Jason Miyares, joined leaders from the region to announce an exciting pilot program to protect friends and loved ones from fentanyl. The pilot program will begin in the City of Roanoke, VA, and expand across the Commonwealth. The initiative, It Only Takes One, aims to bring awareness to the growing threat of fentanyl, as well as train citizens on how to stop an overdose. Learn more at: https://hubs.ly/Q02jpSBW0
