Keeping families close
About us
When a family of any child from birth to age 21 suddenly needs a home away from home to be near a hospitalized child, the Ronald McDonald House of the Southwest Charities can help. With 17 furnished suites in the RMHC residence only minutes from University Medical Center and Covenant Children's Hospitals in Lubbock and convenient family rooms inside the hospitals as well support and care for families can be met. Families can devote energy to the love and attention their child needs while food, shelter and other services are being managed for them. No family is ever charged or turned away from RMHC. 100% of all monies raised are used to help the areas of service covered. In Texas 68 counties are covered and many Southeastern New Mexico patients come to Lubbock for medical attention as well.

We had a great time with our McDonald's friends, the Snowbergers, at their golf tournament this past weekend. This is their 18th year of #KeepingFamiliesClose with their golf tournament that supports RMHC of the Southwest, RMHC of Amarillo, and RMHC of New Mexico. We're so grateful for their continued support. And, it's a special bonus for us that we get to spend sometime with our sister RMHCs and sharing about our work. ❤️

RMHC of the Southwest is only able to provide a home away from home for families who have a child receiving medical care because of our amazing community. We are so grateful to the amazing people who give their time, talent, and treasure to RMHC’s mission. This year, we’ll be celebrating all our partners in #KeepingFamiliesClose at our Thanks for Giving Luncheon on November 12th. As we lead up to the celebration, we’ll be announcing our award winners who will be recognized at the luncheon. To start off, we are announcing our “Time Award” recipients. These people have gone above and beyond in dedicating their time to RMHC of the Southwest. Our recipients for 2024 are: Jeffrey Carson: Jeffrey has been volunteering with RMHC of the Southwest since March of this year, almost full time. He is always ready with a smile and a helping hand at our House and in our Family Rooms. Jeffrey is always willing to go above and beyond for every person her meets. Lynn County 4-H Club: Kara Jones and the Lynn County 4-H Club have been an amazing group of youth volunteers (and their adult mentors) for RMHC. They have been a consistent and loving presence in our House kitchen. So far in 2024, they have volunteered over 91 hours. Alpha Delta Pi: As their National Philanthropy, Alpha Delta Pi has been a long-standing part of our volunteer program. We have seen so many amazing young women over the years volunteer their time to RMHC from doing chores in the House to cooking meals for families to hosting their own fundraisers for us. This year, ADPi has volunteered over 209 hours and counting. Jim Lane & Walmart 4299: Jim Lane and the crew at Walmart #4299 have been making our Fridays even brighter this past year. Almost every Friday, they have cooked creative and delicious lunches for our families and staff. Our long term families, especially look forward to what they will make each week. Walmart has volunteered over 1,000 hours with RMHC this year. Thank you to everyone who has made such an incredible contribution to supporting families when they need us most!

Delta Tau Delta recently collected all their cans after game day tailgating and dropped them off at the House! Those aluminum cans will turn into more time together for families who have a child receiving medical care. Join us in collecting pop tabs and aluminum cans and you CAN make a difference! Whether you're hosting a watch party, tailgating, or just having a soda at home, you can help with #KeepingFamiliesClose! RMHC of the Southwest has a trailer in the north-west corner of our parking lot, where you can drop cans off at anytime. Learn more about being part of our mission at www.rmhcsouthwest.com.
