The leaders in South Phoenix have chosen to lead a different way: by listening to community members, rather than making assumptions. Together, they’ve created lasting, impactful change. Whether it’s “transforming a food desert to a food oasis” with Spaces of Opportunity 🥬 🌽 🫛 to redefining K-12 education at the Roosevelt School District 🏫 🎒 🎓 to holding space for indigenous arts and cultural traditions at the Sagrado Gallery 🖼️ and Cihuapactli Collective (working to preserve the Campo Santo Mexicano Cemetery), South Phoenix is led by incredible people who found creative ways to work around a system that wasn’t built to serve them. They created their own solutions and never looked back.
