  • FORCED INJECTION into the USPS UPSTREAM will lead to earlier and more PEAK SEASON sortation breakdown. Additional Analysis with some conjecture. USPS Expects: More Revenue Close the TNT Gap on Ground Advantage vs Best Consolidatiors. Postal Consolidatior: Pay USPS More and get simplify delivery network. Potential Longer TNT Shipper Using Postal Hybrids: Potential cost increase, Potential TnT delays. Expect some shifts in cost and TNT but also expect these changes won't be earth-shattering. • Nicholas F. did a great job of articulation of the new DAS zips. wanted to share. No question that super urban environments have unique challenges. So is this a money grab or truthfully locations that are more costly to deliver? If you asked me 5 years ago my answer would be yes these areas are more costly. Today my gut tells me with the application or lockers and carrier partner outlets I side on the side of money grab.

Heads Up! New Delivery Area Surcharges from FedEx and UPS have been introduced! UPS and FedEx have started adding delivery area surcharges (DAS) to urban zip codes… why? “to align with the market"... Not sure what that means and if you do, please share in the comments! 82 very dense urban zips (~3mn ppl) were added to the DAS list but they don’t seem to have much logic behind them as you can see from the maps of NYC and San Fran. Either this was the first step to adding all urban zips to DAS or this is a short-term money grab. Personally, I think it’s because UPS and FedEx know shippers rarely pay attention to the DAS zip list and DAS surcharges. So it’s an easy lever to pull that will increase revenue in a down market. And if they can get away with it, I think we’ll see more urban zips added in the near future. Unfortunately, I think most shippers will let them get away with it. That said, you can do something about it, see a recent Supply Chain Dive article from Max Garland I contributed to listing several ways to mitigate and avoid DAS surcharges. Do you think we’ll see more zips added to DAS or even a new DAS category altogether? #ecommerce #logistics #UPS

HighlanderTek-Location Data to Win the Last Mile

Put it out to the LinkedIn in world with regards to Parcel and LTL. #1. Should a carriers be required to provide visual proof along with dim data when dimensionial charges beyond customer provided are assessed? #2. If a carrier provides no dimisional data or proof in billing, should you have to pay? #3. When the carrier provides no proof or data in billing and shipper contests the charge and the carrier provides data but no proof should you believe them? Thoughts?
