What's the difference between Rose and other pest control companies? Our passion for nature. Check out these awesome photos from our talented team members! Carolina Mantis Nymph (Stagmomantis carolina) - The praying mantis is so named as it sits motionless in a distinctive position that suggests a posture of prayer. This mantis is common across the eastern US. Its variable coloration allows it to choose places where it will blend into the background. Known as ambush predators, these insects feed voraciously on anything that moves and appears small enough to fit in their well-armed legs, which are modified for grasping. While they have become the poster child for biocontrol and the natural elimination of pest insects, their choice of prey is indiscriminate and many a beneficial insect has become a mantis meal as well. 📸 Mark Sheperdigian, B.C.E. What's the difference between Rose and other pest control companies? Our passion for nature. Check out these awesome photos from our talented team members! Small-eyed Sphinx (Paonias myops) – This strange-looking sphinx moth can be found throughout North America. It’s known as the small-eyed sphinx as the hind wings (covered here) bear eyespots that the moth can expose to scare predators. The adults are attracted to lights at night and will often be found sitting on the sides of buildings or walkways in the morning. The caterpillars of this species, like most sphinx larvae, have a fleshy “horn” on the backend and are consequently sometimes known as “hornworms.” Host plants for the small-eyed sphinx caterpillar include deciduous trees like birches, cherries, and willows. 📸 Hugh McMath, Pest Control Technician at Rose Pest Solutions #bugs #insects #macro #nature #insect #bug #macrophotography #naturephotography #wildlife #photography #entomology #pestcontrol #insectphotography #animals #naturelovers #pest #photooftheday #pests #bugslife #pestcontrolservice #rosepestsolutions #lifeatrose
