A project sponsor, for instance, grants you the authority and resources to move forward. But, if this key stakeholder isn’t satisfied, lacks awareness of the project’s value, or doesn’t understand its current state, they can cancel the entire project. That’s why it’s crucial to identify who holds authority, influence, and interest in your project. 2️⃣ Communicate, Set Expectations, and Manage Risks Stakeholder management isn’t just about knowing who’s in charge, it’s about engaging them effectively. This means: Setting Clear Expectations: Inform stakeholders of risks and potential challenges before they escalate. Managing Risks Transparently: Create clear plans to address issues and ensure stakeholders understand those plans. 3️⃣ Build Relationships Rooted in Trust and Authenticity Strong relationships are the foundation of successful stakeholder management. When stakeholders trust you, they are more likely to support your decisions and be forgiving if things don’t go as planned. “Humans aren’t infallible, and problems will arise. As long as it’s not a trend, having strong relationships with stakeholders will allow you to plan, correct issues, and gain the grace needed to move forward.” “In my personal opinion, if I had to rank all aspects of project management, stakeholder management would be at the top.
