This past weekend, the Rosslyn BID was a sponsor at the annual #MarineCorpsMarathon that held its finish festival in #RosslynVA. The Rosslyn BID has been a sponsor for the marathon over the last few years, and it’s been wonderful to see the impact the marathon has in the DMV area. We had the opportunity to witness thousands of runners come across the finish line and continue the festivities in downtown Rosslyn. Local Rosslyn retailers Miru Acupuncture and Remarkable Feet joined us at our finish festival tent to bring free cupping services and a sneaker giveaway to runners after the race. Nestlé’s Essentia Hydroboost water was a huge hit with the runners and supporting family. Board member Shannon Flanagan-Watson also came to support the runners and stopped by our tent! We’re grateful for our continued partnership with the Marine Corps Marathon, and can’t wait for next year! #Arlington #DMV #Virginia #Sponsorships #Marathon

About us
In the heart of the D.C. area, Rosslyn’s convenient location, prominent companies and engaging community events drive the business and social interactions that foster a dynamic community and define Rosslyn as Arlington’s premier urban center. More than 20,000 employees work here in businesses ranging from locally grown, innovative startups to globally-recognized, Fortune 500 companies. Just across the river from D.C., this neighborhood sits at the nexus of several roadways, bike trails, and transit lines with direct links to major airports and easy access to the entire metro area. As a result, Rosslyn is a hub for social and economic activity. Since 2001, the Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) has worked to improve the neighborhood and directly support the area’s businesses, employees and residents. We take an active leadership role as a change agent, connector, and community builder to serve our stakeholders. Through neighborhood events, promotional efforts, a robust hospitality team, and close partnership with Arlington County, we support the continued development of this vibrant neighborhood.

Thanks to my incredible Rosslyn Business Improvement District Board of Directors for another productive meeting and meaningful conversation. We discussed our ongoing priorities, recent wins, and focus areas for the new fiscal year. We’re proud to champion the neighborhood's most important long-range priorities, and provided the latest on key projects, including Gateway Park, the Boathouse, and transportation (linked below). In our updates shared from around the room, it was encouraging to hear that despite a challenging commercial real-estate market, property owners agreed that Rosslyn buildings are performing well, with 1735 N Lynn St. nearly fully leased and 50% of the brand new Rosslyn Towers at the Key apartments already occupied! In addition to our regular board business, we always enjoy hearing from guest speakers. Last quarter, we welcomed Arlington County Board Member Maureen Coffey, and this quarter, Susan Cunningham, both who shared their priorities and goals. Thank you to both for your service across Arlington and partnership with the Rosslyn BID! To enhance board engagement, we're experimenting with moving our meetings from the BID offices to various venues around the neighborhood. This allows us to appreciate the amazing meeting spaces in #RosslynVA! A special thanks to Jamie Jones Miller and the team at Northeastern University Arlington for hosting us in their stunning room with spectacular regional views. It was a great way to energize our discussions and plan for our neighborhood's future! #GatewayPark #Transportation #Boathouse #RosslynVA #BoardEngagement https://lnkd.in/e-TWM9HV

On Tuesday, the Rosslyn BID team held our bi-annual meeting with commercial and residential property managers around the neighborhood to share updates about the BID’s services, seasonal programs, and community news. Arlington County Police Department shared public safety information regarding election day and the inauguration, as well as ACPD and WMATA’s recent #RosslynVA data trends. They encouraged attendees to take advantage of the County's new Public Camera Registration Program, which allows residents and business owners to voluntarily register their privately-owned video security cameras and become public safety partners. Our staff members Alli Henry and Victor Carcamo provided updates on seasonal events, Gateway Park's Master Planning process, construction and development updates, and tips to help Rosslyn’s property managers prepare for the winter season. These meetings are a great way to stay looped in on the latest Rosslyn neighborhood news and connect with other property managers in the area. #RosslynVA #Arlington #Virginia #Construction #PublicSafety #ArlingtonCountyPD

In celebration of mental health day, I wanted to reflect on a recent team dinner we had. It was so nice to take some time to sit down together and celebrate the recent end of our very busy summer events series. From #RosslynCinema and #RosslynLIVE to #JazzFest, the Rosslyn Business Improvement District team has been working hard to create diverse, engaging, and FUN events for the community, and I realized that WE should have some fun and celebrate our achievements 😊 Taking a moment to acknowledge and celebrate your team's successes is essential for maintaining morale, and it’s also a critical piece of long-term mental health and wellness. I am so appreciative of the team we have built—every individual in this group is instrumental in driving our organization’s goals and is committed to creating a thriving Rosslyn where people want to live, work, and connect. A special shoutout to the team at the Hyatt Centric Arlington who went above and beyond in organizing a delicious family-style dinner for the BID team; anyone looking for a great spot in #Rosslyn for a company event should get in touch them! #MentalHealth #EmployeeAppreciation #TeamBuilding #RosslynVA

This month, several Rosslyn BID staff members attended the International Downtown Association Annual Conference in Seattle to connect with other BIDs and place management organizations from across the country and beyond. Our team attended workshops, leadership meetings, and community events throughout the week to network, discover new ideas, and learn what industry peers are implementing in their neighborhoods. Rosslyn BID President Mary-Claire Burick also hosted a breakout session on demystifying media relations with Downtown Winnipeg BIZ CEO Kate Fenske. We can't wait to welcome the IDA Annual Conference to the DC area next year! #IDA #Seattle #PlaceManagement #RosslynVA #leadership

Rosslyn-founded District Taco is celebrating 15 years in business! The Mexican fast-casual restaurant first started a single food cart in our neighborhood, and has since expanded into a growing franchise across the Mid-Atlantic region. As the brand celebrates its 15th birthday, it continues to achieve new milestones. Recently, District Taco was honored as Minority-Owned Business of the Year by the American Business Awards® and ranked as the best Mexican food in Virginia by lovefood.com, testaments to their commitment to excellence, diversity, and community involvement, as well as dedication in providing customers delicious, Yucatan-inspired dishes. The brand's 15th year has also brought two new locations — Norfolk, VA and Wayne, NJ — with additional locations to be added in 2025. Arlington continues to grow as a hub for business investment, and Venture Global LNG recent acquisition of the Potomac Tower in #RosslynVA is the latest vote of confidence in the county’s commercial market. The 20-story office building offers striking views of the D.C. skyline and Potomac River, plus a convenient and central location in the DMV region. Venture Global LNG’s $143 million investment and purchase of the tower marks one of the most substantial non-portfolio office deals in the D.C. metropolitan area over the past year, highlighting the strategic importance of Arlington and Rosslyn to our entire region. “Venture Global LNG’s decision to invest in Potomac Tower is a clear endorsement of Arlington as a top-tier business destination,” said Ryan Touhill, Director of Arlington Economic Development. “Their commitment to our community is a testament to the robust business climate we’ve cultivated, which continues to attract and retain leading companies.” https://bit.ly/3MTesYs #Arlington #PotomacTowers #Virginia #DMV #Investment

It was a busy week, to say the least! At Tuesday’s meeting of the Greater Washington Board of Trade's Board of Directors, we heard from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)'s Randy Clarke and the GWBOT's Jack McDougle on some of the most pressing issues facing our region. In addition to the great conversation, I had the opportunity to connect with friends and colleagues like Diana Léon Brown, MS MBA, Cary Hatch, Beth Johnson, and Linda Rabbitt😊 Tuesday evening, I was so excited to attend the DC #BizwomenLeadershipCouncil and #WomenWhoMeanBusiness alumni dinner, which was a wonderful event. Many thanks to the team at the Washington Business Journal for their dedication to gathering such accomplished groups of women leaders together for discussion, networking, and uplifting! Thursday I was honored to participate in the opening program for the Leadership Center of Arlington's Lead class of 2025. This group of established leaders (including the Rosslyn Business Improvement District's own Alli Henry!) come together to build upon their existing professional skills and relationships to maximize their impact in the Arlington community and larger DMV area. Huge thanks to Lisa Fikes and Stacy Cook for allowing me to lead the DiSC Work of Leaders session – even while facilitating those sessions I always learn something new myself. Last, but most certainly not least, I had an amazing time celebrating the Arlington Chamber Of Commerce's 100th anniversary at their Century Club reception which was hosted in #Rosslyn's own 1812 North Moore. This event highlighted all the work the organization has done over the past century to foster economic growth and prosperity in #Arlington! Thanks to my friends at Monday Properties for showcasing the neighborhood's stunning cityscape views at this event, and great job to Kate Bates for a great evening🏙 It was a lot to pack into one week, but it was rewarding. I enjoy supporting our important community organizations, advancing leadership, and celebrating accomplishments that benefit us all. While it’s a commitment, being present, involved, and engaged is also a great opportunity for personal growth! I encourage everyone to take advantage of opportunities like these. #BoardOfTrade #DMV #WomenInBusiness #NetworkBuilding #ArlingtonCounty #LeadershipDevelopment
