District 5950 of Rotary International is a group of 64 Rotary Clubs located in Central and Southwestern Minnesota. These clubs represent 41 Minnesota communities ranging in size from Minneapolis to Springfield. Our District is one of 529 Districts in 166 countries throughout the world and totaling 1.2 million Rotarians in more than 35,000 local Rotary Clubs. The first Rotary Club in District 5950 was established in Minneapolis in February 1910, the ninth club in Rotary International. District 5950 is home to more than 2,700 Rotarians, who are a diverse group of professionals of all backgrounds, business owners, and community leaders living or working in their respective communities.

This past weekend was packed full of celebration and joy for our college community. From Friday night's awards celebration for PharmD graduates, to Saturday morning's MS/PhD celebration, right on to commencement Saturday afternoon, there were smiles plentiful! In addition to our tremendous faculty members present, we had the privilege of hosting several distinguished guests throughout the weekend. They included alumnus and MS/PhD Celebration keynote speaker Dr. Raj Khankari; and commencement guests UMN Vice Provost Brian Sick, UMN Regent Mary Turner, and keynote speaker Alex C. Varkey, PharmD, MS, FAPhA, president of American Pharmacists Association. We'll share more photos soon, but a hearty thank you to everyone who made the day possible and joined in the celebrations. Being a good steward of grant money received from the Rotary International (RI) Foundation is crucial to ensuring its effective utilization and positive impact. Attending a Grant Management Seminar (GMS) is the first step in having your club certified to receive matching Rotary Foundation funds for local and international projects. Each club must have at least one member trained at a GMS; multiple members can be trained. The fee for the GMS sessions is included in the club training fee.
