There’s no doubt that unprecedented uncertainty plays a significant role in Americans’ economic outlook. Yet, it’s a truth of our new normal. So what does that mean for marketers? At our recent Strategy School event, Neely Tamminga, co-founder and CEO of DISTILL, and Roundpeg shared a deep dive into the impact of uncertainty on young adults—their unique financial fragility and how they approach unpredictability in surprising ways. At a macro level Gen Z is being disproportionately impacted by unemployment and price fluctuations. As a result we’re seeing a tightening of wallets through a slowdown in auto sales...and an increase in auto loan and credit card delinquencies. Narrowing in on this audience however, it’s apparent that young adults (18-29) prepare for, and respond to a variety of challenges, including financial, social, and personal obstacles in very different ways. Roundpeg HQ just got an upgrade — thanks to a referral from Annie Gillette Cleveland and the vision of Anh Tran — talented grad of Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Anh recommended reviving the original design for Roundpeg's front doors (courtesy of lazoroffice.com) — floor to ceiling glass providing an intriguing peak inside the office to spark curiosity and inspire our clients from the moment they arrive. ...Unfortunately, after the doors were installed, we learned glass doors aren't up to fire code (ouch). So, they were reenvisioned (in typical Roundpeg fashion) and, to this day, serve as our very favorite glass conference table, as well as a fun conversation piece. As Roundpeg's first ever artist in residence, we're excited to share our entry as a showcase Anh's work throughout 2024.
