Roundup River Ranch enriches the lives of children with serious illnesses & their families.

About us

Roundup River Ranch offers old-fashioned, pure fun camp experiences for children with serious illnesses and their families. At our beautiful Colorado ranch and through year-round activities, we offer our campers and families the chance to enjoy the most extraordinarily ordinary joys of childhood. Here, children are not defined by their illness. They can take a true vacation from being a patient and get back to the fun of being a child. Through our camp experiences, the healing power of laughter, friendship and shared experiences offer kids the chance to make new friends, find the courage to try activities they never thought possible, and build confidence. With full medical, physical and emotional support from healthcare professionals, trained staff and dedicated volunteers, campers and their families have the peace of mind to simply live in the moment and have fun. And perhaps the most extraordinary thing of all is that no camper ever pays a penny. For more information about Roundup River Ranch, visit www.RoundupRiverRanch.org.

Meet Monica, our Marketing Coordinator! 👋 Monica is celebrating 2 years at Roundup River Ranch today! You can usually find her with a camera at camp or any of our events, as content collection is a huge part of her role. She also enjoys supporting the entire organization with any marketing materials, including flyers, emails, social media, and more! 🤩 "I was drawn to Roundup River Ranch because of the impact that it has on so many people. I wanted to be part of making a difference in peoples lives, and knew Roundup was an incredible place to do that." Throughout her time here, Monica's favorite memories are during Summer Camp and Family Camp sessions, watching the magic of camp in motion. "Getting to be out at camp, capturing the special moments that happen is definitely one of my favorite parts of my job! "📸✨ Monica says that to her, Embrace Joy means, "remembering to pause and find the little things that make you smile in every moment." 💛 We're so glad to have Monica on our team, always working hard to share the story of camp in meaningful ways! 👏

Help us celebrate Volunteer Matt for 50 SESSIONS of volunteering! 🥳 At Family Camp this fall, Matt accomplished something truly incredible - 50 sessions of volunteering at Roundup River Ranch over 11 years. Matt truly embodies the definition of Superhero Volunteer. 🦸 He enjoys retirement through golfing, fly fishing, and volunteerism. In addition to volunteering at Roundup River Ranch, he volunteers at the PICU at Children’s Hospital Colorado, which is where he originally heard about camp. Since 2014, Matt has been volunteering at as many Summer Camps, Family Camps, and Camper Reunions as he can. ❤️ “All it takes is one week - not even a week. Just coming up here once. It’s so beautiful up here. Seeing how it’s grown over the years, and coming back every year to see how the kids have grown up. Because they’re survivor kids. A lot of survivor kids. Just spending time with kids up here, letting them be kids.” One of Matt’s highlights from this summer was during session 2. There were a couple campers in the Osprey Cabin who Matt remembers volunteering at camp when they were just 7. It was special for him to see them as leaders in the oldest cabins! 🤩 “That’s one of the joys of camp is you see kids grow up, because not all of them do. They have to grow up too fast when you have a transplanted heart or you have a kidney that’s bad. That’s what it gives you. Life perspective - that’s camp.” Help us thank Matt for his commitment to making camp the magical, life-changing place that it is for so many campers. 👏

We're back in Seacrest Studios at Children’s Hospital Colorado! 🤩 Today, we visited 59 patient rooms to drop off activities, bringing the fun and creativity of camp right to the hospital. 💖 We had a blast chatting about spooky plans with Cody, the host of Seacrest Studios, and making silly clothespin puppets by hand!

We want to send a special thank you to THE BOOKWORM OF EDWARDS, INC. and to everyone who supported our Summer Camp Book Drive! 📚 In just 2 months, our community purchased 100 books from The Bookworm of Edwards, and the store MATCHED those books (plus some) for a total donation count of 224 books to camp! The Book Drive helped update The Benny, create new collections for the cabins, and increase the diversity of stories offered to our campers.👏 The donated books ranged from graphic novels, middle grade, young adult, joke books, picture books, Spanish language books, sports books, resource books for our staff, and more! There is a story for every camper and family waiting for them to enjoy. We are so grateful for the partnership with the Bookworm, their entire staff, and everyone who donated even more joy to camp! As Dr. Seuss said, "You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book!” ❤️✨

Introducing Rose Lake! 🌹 🛶 Last weekend, we had the honor of hosting the Mordecai family at Roundup River Ranch for the dedication of Rose Lake, named in memory of Janet Rose Mordecai. Janet, who passed away two years ago, was a passionate supporter of our mission and left a transformative gift of $2.3 million in her estate, which was used to fund our new wastewater treatment plant. This essential infrastructure allows us to continue growing and serving more campers with serious illnesses, ensuring a lasting impact on future generations. 👏 During the dedication, Janet’s four children and their families experienced the joy and magic of camp. It was a perfect fall weekend filled with boating on the newly named Rose Lake, along with other camp activities including the Challenge Course, Archery, Art, and, of course, camp dancing. The weekend was complete with delicious meals prepared by our talented Chef Mary. The event beautifully celebrated Janet’s legacy, connecting her family to the spirit and heart of Roundup River Ranch. ❤️

Meet our newest team member, Mark! 👋 Mark is joining our Facilities team as our Facilities Technician. 🛠️ Mark was drawn to Roundup River Ranch because of the connection to the community and to the campers. So far, his biggest takeaway is how welcoming everybody is. Mark said "I am excited to be on a team that is so committed to the campers. I am proud to be working for and working with the RRR team." ❤️ As a Facilities Technician, Mark helps make sure that everything at the campsite looks great and works great, especially ensuring that the cabins and facilities are well-maintained for each group that comes to use them! Mark's favorite guidepost is all of them, because they are all meaningful examples of how everyone should be thought of! 👏 We are so excited to have Mark on the team! 🤩
