About us
Empowering New Yorkers of all backgrounds and abilities through the discipline of rowing and rigorous academic support. 🚣♂️ Row New York was founded in 2002 on the premise that the values instilled through rowing, paired with academic support, provide a strong foundation for success in college and beyond. The Row New York high school rowing program serves student-athletes from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds with high dosage, year-round rowing and academic programs. We serve student-athletes at two sites (Queens and Manhattan). We provide resources for our youth such as tutoring, career prep, and mental health support so that we are able to support their holistic development and help them meet challenges on and off the water. Our goal is to ensure that 100% of our young people graduate high school and are successful in college. Row New York also offers an adaptive rowing program for children and adults with physical or cognitive disabilities. The program is delivered in English and Spanish and workouts are modified for athletes of all levels of ability. Row New York is building a state-of-the-art $36M boathouse designed by renowned architect Norman Foster. Learn more at www.rownewyork.org

From shy teen to confident coach—discover how Row New York helped Cinthya navigate academics, athletics, and lifelong lessons. "I came in as a really shy girl who didn't have a voice of her own but through rowing, I was able to not only find my voice, but find who I am. Not only did Row New York provide me with amazing coaches to teach me how to row, they also provided me with an incredible academic staff who made sure we worked on homework, got tutoring on any subject we needed, and taught valuable life lessons like building confidence and learning how to apply to a job. They really taught me how to manage my schoolwork while being an athlete. Being part of the Row New York community doesn't end when you graduate. I was able to apply to be an Assistant Coach. As a college student, Row New York has been really flexible with my schedule and made sure my studies come first while allowing me to learn how to become an effective coach. Coaching has given me a different perspective on rowing. I am currently working on the Community and Adaptive rowing team and keep learning and improving. I am looking forward to graduating college in a few years with a B.A. in Education. I want to continue to coach rowing and teach at the middle school or high school level."
