Modern business software is blurring the line between work and play. It’s very game-like. That’s not an accident—this shift is intentional and by design. In a game, you're not just completing tasks. You're having fun and unlocking new levels. AI can transform business software in the same way—allowing it to adapt to you, understand your needs, and make work more enjoyable. The future of work isn’t just efficient—it’s fun. And it’s already happening. Join Siqi Chen and Andrew Chen as they unpack how story, design and AI come together to change the way we work. It’s happening at TECH WEEK by a16z on Oct 9th: https://lnkd.in/gi66GP24

Business software gets the job done, but what if it could make work feel like play? Tools don’t have to be clunky or transactional anymore. They can — and should — sense your needs, optimize everything you do, and make work feel more *human*. This is possible with AI. Instead of rigid workflows that force you to conform, we can now create fluid experiences that mold to the way you naturally think — so you can stay in flow and focus on the work that actually matters. This is the future of work, it’s already here, and it's way more fun than you might think! I’m excited to explore it further with my friend Andrew Chen. Join us at TECH WEEK by a16z. I’ll drop the link below.

My relationship with Finance deteriorated when I began to equate my financial abilities to my Excel/modeling abilities. In business school, I noticed people separating themselves into haves and have nots of excel referring to themselves as "numbers person" or not. This usually didn't reflect their ability to understand the business but rather their ability to model. Recently I joined a company called Runway and I want to take a moment to brag about the personal satisfaction I feel in being a part of a company that demystifies finance such that anyone in the company can understand it. I really feel like we are onto something here. Its the startup energy I wanted to feel since watching Silicon Valley. My feelings are validated by the customers, the quality of talent, as well as the A-list investors in our company. I am extending an invite to schedule a call with me cause I'd just love to show you the platform. https://lnkd.in/g6NEgi6v

With Runway, you can pull live data, customize your reports, and easily share them with your team. No more wasting hours on manual updates or worrying about outdated information. It’s an incredible feeling when you have team alignment. Finance teams have often been seen as the "gatekeepers". Not because they want to be, but because of the tools they’ve had at their disposal. Even today, they carry the crucial responsibilities of managing financial data, ensuring compliance, and protecting the organization’s financial health. However, the lack of collaborative tools has traditionally forced finance into a gatekeeping role, controlling access to critical financial information. But the landscape is quickly evolving. We're starting to see more and more finance teams moving beyond the gatekeeping role to become enablers of innovation and collaboration across their organizations. Runway is helping drive this shift, empowering everyone—regardless of their financial expertise—to meaningfully engage with and understand their business. One of my favorite examples is Andrew Maher at Superhuman, who uses Runway to democratize finance and drive ownership among his cross-functional leaders. By providing real-time insights and accessible financial data, Andrew empowers each leader to take control of their respective business areas, leading to a more aligned, efficient, and proactive team.

Didn't think I would be part of another unboxing video after leaving e-commerce. Especially for a SaaS product like Runway! But here we are with our very first one, featuring Paul Barnhurst aka The FP&A Guy, and our exclusive launch jackets. 🧥 At Shopify, unboxing videos were a big part of how we connected with our community, whether through Milestones or Shopify Supply. These videos turned opening a product into an experience, building excitement and giving people a tangible sense of achievement. It was all about celebrating those first impressions and creating something memorable and fun. Had a blast putting these together, and it was amazing to see how our Runway community connected with this one!
