Happy National Intern Day! Today we are excited to recognize the outstanding talent and hard work of our twenty-two Spark interns. Hailing from fifteen different schools and working across fourteen of our office locations, our interns gain lots of field experience over the summer, from drilling borings to completing environmental site assessments, evaluating soils, concrete testing, and more. They are even encouraged and supported in obtaining certifications, helping to build their professional credentials early on. From July 26th to August 11th, the world will be captivated by the incredible feats of athleticism at the Paris Olympics! Will you be tuning in? Our Charlotte office recently celebrated the upcoming Summer Olympics by hosting their newly created, highly anticipated Office Olympics. Team USA and Team ’MERICA competed fiercely, with Team ’MERICA ultimately taking the win! The Pearl: Charlotte’s Innovation District. Our Columbia, South Carolina office officially completed a successful osprey rescue mission! An osprey that looked to be injured was captured under a milk crate at a local restaurant. Cue our S&ME team who sprang into action, dialing up local rescue facilities, including the fantastic folks at Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. The group managed to safely transfer the osprey to the zoo, where top-tier specialists from the Raptors & Endangered Species department took over. Fast-forward a bit; we received happy news that our feathered friend not only made a full recovery but also spread its wings back into the wild. Huge kudos to our Columbia team and the amazing Riverbanks Zoo crew for this good deed!

Join us in congratulating Andrew Bain, P.E., our Indianapolis Office Principal! Andrew joined S&ME late last year as a Professional Engineer with ten years of experience in transportation, geotechnical, and underground construction projects. As Office Principal, Andrew drives growth and optimizes performance in S&ME’s Indianapolis location, including direct management of the local office operations and client development. Was out in the field today with Keaton Andrus, P.E. , and got to learn how to log my first rock core. I am just over a month into the Spark Internship with S&ME and have gained a multitude of valuable real world experiences from hands on learning at job sites. I’ve been exposed to geotechnical, construction services, and environmental work to learn as much as possible!
