‘Out of Uniform Outreach Days’ are one part of a commitment to Service Learning that underpins the Sacred Heart values. Students bring in dollars for the opportunity to wear free dress, in support of one of our Community Partners. Today we support Misericordia Heart of Mercy, an organization that provides a community of care that maximizes potential for persons with mild to profound developmental disabilities. This partnership runs deep. Students visit Misericordia as part of the school service program, while adults from Misericordia return that support here on Sheridan Road. We are grateful to have this opportunity for our students to grow as people, and to know this warm and caring community.

How to Get Kids to Talk About Their Day Many parents struggle to get their children to open up about their day, especially those in grades 1-8. Understanding why kids hesitate to share and learning how to create an environment that encourages conversation can bridge this communication gap: https://lnkd.in/gxNNCgwd The 'Heart of the Matter' blog is inspired by the Sacred Heart difference.

Sacred Heart Schools Sheridan Road welcomed preschoolers onto the main campus for the first time this school year. "Young people are our priority; they carry the seeds of the future." - St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, foundress of the Society of the Sacred Heart. With this philosophy in mind, new, innovative classrooms and outdoor learning spaces have been created. Two of the largest classrooms have custom multi-level lofts and multi-sensory stations, allowing students interactive experiences while feeling nurtured. Providing opportunities to share learning with their peers and to engage in dramatic play, this environment supports important parts of the learning experience. Similarly, a new outdoor space encourages exploration and collaboration while embracing nature. Designed by award-winning architects CRG Playscapes, it is a highlight for the students. Under the leadership of Division Head and Sacred Heart alum Maureen Callahan Rutkowski, compassionate educators ensure that each child's individual and unique needs are met. Purposeful play, social emotional learning and strong academics are the foundation to their education and the Sacred Heart mission. Whether in the foundational world language, through early literacy or math skill development, or exploration, these youngest learners are literally "carrying the seeds of the future."
