Nationwide, more children live in the state of homelessness than in most American states. This is why our work here at Safe Haven is more important than ever before. Last year we served 332 families, which included 758 children. Per data from the National Center for Homeless Education, the number of children experiencing homelessness during the 2021-2022 school year nationwide was greater than the total number of children in 28 states. Nearly 1.2 million children were either literally homeless (living in a shelter, or in unsheltered locations such as a car or tent) or doubled-up (sharing housing with friends or family beyond a unit’s designated capacity). We are honored to be a finalist for the Center for Nonprofit Management - Nashville, TN Salute to Excellence Awards in the category of Community Impact. We are so proud of our work and leadership with the collaborative 100 Day Challenge. In the Fall of 2023, Safe Haven along with The Family Collective of United Way of Greater Nashville and 30 partnering organizations set out to house 100 families in 100 days. Through these collaborative efforts, 123 families were housed in 100 days, meeting and exceeding the projected goal. We also worked and continue to work to bring about structural, relational, and transformative change for solving family homelessness in Davidson County. We believe we can end family homelessness (reach functional zero) in our community and know that collaboration with organizations, government, individuals and corporations is key to reaching that goal.
🌟 Congratulations to our 2024 Salute to Excellence Finalists! 🌟 Your dedication to making a difference in our community is truly inspiring. We are thrilled to celebrate your incredible achievements at the Salute to Excellence Awards on October 24th. Thank you for your passion, commitment, and the positive impact you continue to make. We can't wait to see who will take home the awards this year! #SaluteToExcellence #CommunityImpact #NonprofitLeaders #CNMNashville" Mark your calendars and join us on October 24th for an unforgettable celebration of excellence in our community.
