Are your hiring managers equipped to apply a child safety lens to the recruitment and screening process? These requirements and skills are not necessarily comfortable for people, and can feel awkward and unnecessary if everyone involved doesn't understand the 'why'. We often receive feedback from our Safe Recruitment training - https://lnkd.in/gPaRw46t that it has improved stages such as interviews and reference checking both from a child safety and overall perspective, as we build skills and practice in: - enhancing the application process - behavioural based interview techniques - confidence in probing referees - identifying red flags - screening options - critical examination of potential recruits In our opinion, all child safe organisations should provide this training to hiring managers and those working in People and Culture to ensure the critical safeguarding step of recruitment is of a high standard. And........our facilitators are experienced in management, passionate safeguarders and qualified in human resources! The Child Safe Standards and National Principles state that all organisations are required to provide staff and volunteers with a child safety induction. This is not about 'mandatory reporting' but instead should focus on what is required of representatives working for a child safe organisation, and set new recruits up for success. Our self-paced induction module addresses the minimum requirements in the Standards/Principles, providing a sound base for ongoing training and development. And, our platform regularly updates to ensure it is always current with changing legislation! After writing content for many organisations over the years, we at Safeguarding Training Australia - https://lnkd.in/gHyeaVm5 understand the challenges in getting it right, and have taken the heavy lifting out of this key training requirement. And, we customise the content to suit your organisation! It’s Day 7 of National Child Protection Week 2024 and we’re wrapping up this week’s educational series highlighting Child Safe Standard/National Principle 9 (Standard 10 if you are in Victoria): “Implementation of the national child safe principles is regularly reviewed and improved.” Q. How can your child safe organisation seek continuous improvement? A. By being a learning organisation! Being a learning organisation requires you to: - understand the current culture, policy and practice - engage with stakeholders - identify strengths and improvements - plan improvements - have a specific and measurable improvement plan - monitor, review and report progress. Today may be the last official day of National Child Protection Week however conversations as to how to keep our children and young people safe in all scenarios must continue to occur in line with this year's theme that Every Conversation Matters. We can help support your organisation to address the most complex safeguarding problems head-on, fostering real and meaningful safety for children and young people. https://lnkd.in/gHyeaVm5 #safeguarding #childsafety #childprotection #childsafe #childsafestandards #training #education #nationalprinciples #childsafechampions #childsafeofficers #recruitment #professionaldevelopment #ncpw #ncpw24 #governing #leading #organisationalculture #settingculture
