We talk a lot about our sustainable closed-loop system, and our New Haven, Connecticut terminal helps put that practice into action. The Safety-Kleen site is now home to two new 1.8 million-gallon tanks for storing UMO and base oil, and the first shipment of oil was recently loaded onto a barge to be sent back out to a customer. Congrats to the New Haven team on this milestone!
About us
Safety-Kleen is a leading environmental services company engaged in used oil recycling and refining (EcoPower brand), parts cleaning and other responsible environmental solutions. We have approximately 4,300 employees serving approximately 270,000 customer locations in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. With 45 years of experience, we provide our customers with the protection they need for all of their environmental waste issues. We do this by offering a broad set of product and service choices, through an employee network of the most knowledgeable and experienced people in the industry. Safety-Kleen provides comprehensive environmentally-responsible products and services that keep North American businesses in balance with the environment, with a focus on closed-loop recycling processes. As part of these efforts, we offer EcoPower engine oil. As the largest collector and refiner of reclaimed engine oil in North America, we start by reclaiming over 200 million gallons of used oil from over 115,000 locations. That oil is refined using a process that requires 85% less energy than conventional oil. The result is an oil that exceeds all North American standards for engine protection. By using EcoPower and the oil-recovery services of Safety-Kleen, you can protect your vehicles and the environment in a sustainable way. Safety-Kleen, HPC Industrial and Performance Plus were all well represented at the recent 2024 SCTA Speed Week at the Bonneville, Utah salt flats. Among the highlights were the Speed Demon, sponsored by Safety-Kleen, reaching speeds up to 459 mph, cruising past the previous class record in the Steamliner class. The Wayne Jesel HPC Dodge pickup ran over 200 mph, just shy of the record for its class. The No. 28 Safety-Kleen 1934 Roadster raced at a top speed of 211 mph. Rounding out the group was a 1967 Corvette that reached 226 mph, good for a record in the C-modified class. The Roadsters and Corvette are built and prepared by Aaron Brown’s Garage Shop based in Denver, N.C., which has been supported by Safety-Kleen and Performance Plus for over 10 years.

This year's #CleanHarbors250 is in the books! Last Saturday's thrilling race -- the final race of this year's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular season, was a great way to share with customers and race fans from around the country everything Safety-Kleen does as an official partner and supplier of #NASCAR. The race, held at the Richmond Raceway, featured Thad Moffitt driving the yellow Safety-Kleen sponsored No. 46 Chevrolet Silverado. Thanks to everyone who made the weekend so exciting, and congrats to ThorSport Racing No. 98 Ty Majeski for bringing home the checkered flag.

We’re excited to be featured on Netflix’s new series, “Resurrected Rides,” with comedian Chris Redd and his garage team, which is now streaming! Keep an eye out for crew members using our parts washer (like in the picture below), absorbents and Performance Plus lubricants. We also worked with the cast to collect their used motor oil – that will be used to create our KLEEN+ re-refined base oil – along with oil filters and paint waste that will all be recycled.

College interns from across the United States have been spending their summers at a variety of Safety-Kleen and Clean Harbors locations, engaging in practical, hands-on training. In honor of National Intern Day today, we wanted to thank the approximately 70 students – representing more than 50 colleges and universities – for all they’ve done during their internships. They quickly became key members of their teams, and their contributions have had a positive impact across all our lines of business. We wish all our interns the very best during the next stages of their careers! #interns #nationalinternday #training

We are excited to support Castrol’s official launch of its MoreCircular program at the #ACTexpo in Las Vegas this week. Clean Harbors, through its Safety-Kleen subsidiary, is collaborating with Castrol on this nationwide offering. The end-to-end program begins with the collection of used oil from Castrol’s business customers by Safety-Kleen, which are then re-refined into a base oil at Safety-Kleen’s network of re-refineries. Castrol then integrates the re-refined base oil into premium lubricants with a lower carbon footprint that it delivers to customers under its MoreCircular program. The closed-loop offering represents a commitment by Castrol, with the support of Safety-Kleen, to help its customers decarbonize their operations and meet their sustainable goals.
