Wow, what a weekend! The Fourchon Oilman's Association is an association of businesses dedicated to helping local educational and charitable organizations while promoting the oil and gas industry. Since, 2018, they have awarded $950,000 in grants and scholarships throughout our community. It was wonderful to be part of such an event and foster growth in our industry. She graduated from Nicholls State University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and in HR/Maritime Management. It marks the day, June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War had ended and that the enslaved were now free. This event came two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, which had declared all enslaved people in Confederate states free. Juneteenth is a time to celebrate freedom, reflect on the struggles of the past, and continue the fight for equality and justice for all.
