Mitigate clinical risk with Artificial Intelligence by forecasting patient decline and adverse health events
About us
SAIVA AI reads your patients’ EHR for subtle clinical indications. Delivering reliable predictions, insights and notifications, modeled by your documentation, SAIVA AI gives your teams the tools they need to remain alert and aware of patients at greatest risk for clinical decline and hospitalization. Based in Silicon Valley and Research Triangle Park our team is a group of passionate healthcare technology veterans, engineers, and data scientists leveraging cutting edge technology to predict patient risk and tools that drive timely intervention. We were founded to improve patient outcomes across the care continuum by closing the gap between the volumes of clinical data generated as part of a patient episode and actionable insights to reduce or eliminate patient risk for hospitalization.

Skilled Nursing News' Amy Stulick writes about a new study on Medicaid payment rates in 44 states. For those in the industry, it's further confirmation of a fact that is so well-known there's no controversy or doubt about it. But it seems crazy to everyone else. "Medicaid payment rates among nursing homes on average don’t adequately cover today’s costs." Think about that. Over 60% of residents in skilled nursing homes are on Medicaid and the government reimburses the SNF less than the cost of the resident's care. "Medicaid rates only covered about 82 cents per every dollar of reported cost, with Medicaid per diem payments covering 80% or less of an operator’s estimated per diem Medicaid costs." , The study was "published by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), which advises the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) on policy development in health, disability, human services, data and science. "About 52% of nursing homes had 80 to 100% of their Medicaid per diem costs covered, and only 8% had payments exceeding their per diem costs, the study found. Meanwhile, 40% of nursing homes had per diem Medicaid payments that covered less than 80% of their per diem reported Medicaid costs. " But what about the coming staffing mandate which would require even higher cost if the nurses were actually available? Edward Miller, co-author of the study and professor of gerontology and public policy at the University of Massachusetts Boston, told Skilled Nursing News, “Nursing homes need adequate resources to recruit and retain nursing staff and to implement quality improvement efforts to assure proper care. Our findings suggest that Medicaid payments for most nursing homes are alone not sufficient enough to cover the costs of caring for Medicaid residents, let alone needed investments such as these.” Read it all here. https://lnkd.in/gHRkQpQx

In another great interview by Zahida Siddiqi in Skilled Nursing News, Tom Coble of American Health Plans was asked, "What would you do to improve the collection of patient health data?" His response, "Develop AI tools that will mine all existing data. Both current and past. This will turn the information into usable tools that can be used to predict future care based on past care results." Mine all existing data. At SAIVA AI, we agree with him. Our Machine Learning AI models mine all existing clinical data in the EMR. We help Skilled Nursing caregivers be more efficient by making them aware of those residents, long or short-stay, who are most in need of intervention and prioritizing care for them. We've been at it for close to five years and would love to discuss it with you.
