Bringing physical and spiritual aid to hurting people worldwide.

About us

Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ. For 40 years, Samaritan's Purse has done our utmost to follow Christ's command by going to the aid of the world's poor, sick, and suffering. We are an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. This, in turn, earns us a hearing for the Gospel, the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Our emergency relief programs provide desperately needed assistance to victims of natural disaster, war, disease, and famine. As we offer food, water, and temporary shelter, we meet critical needs and give people a chance to rebuild their lives. Our community development and vocational programs in impoverished villages and neighborhoods help people break the cycle of poverty and give them hope for a better tomorrow. We impact the lives of vulnerable children through educational, feeding, clothing, and shelter programs that let them know they are not forgotten. We provide first-class treatment in the Name of the Great Physician through our medical projects, as well as supplying mission hospitals with much needed equipment and supplies.

As Jordan's family and friends passed their neighbor's 2-week-old baby above their heads to escape rushing floodwaters, the foundation of a home uphill gave away and sent debris plummeting towards them. In the middle of terror and chaos, Jordan cried out with confidence and surrender to the Lord: "Thank you Jesus that you have our children in your hands. Thank you Jesus that you are the one protecting them. Thank you Jesus that you keep our heads above the flood..." Listen as Jordan Roten, a current staff member at Samaritan's Purse serving with Operation Christmas Child, shares in our daily staff devotion about her family's miraculous testimony of survival and trust in the Lord: https://sampur.se/3BZgAeV

Rita Danso, a native Ghanaian, is bringing the joy of the Gospel to unreached Ghanaian villages through Operation Christmas Child... “None of them were prepared for the steep, muddy, and rocky challenge that awaited. “At one point, we had already walked so much, but we wondered if we should turn back. We really got tired,” Rita said. They pressed on, and the two-hour hike was worth it. The village chief gave his blessing and permission to host the shoebox outreach event. Rita and the team were touched by his words: “For you to come here means that you love us...” Read Rita’s Full Story Here: https://sampur.se/4eP3q2Q

In gutted homes devastated by floods and neighborhoods waiting in darkness for power to return, the Gospel shines as a beacon of hope. We praise God that 145 people across eight Samaritan’s Purse Response sites have found faith in Jesus Christ amidst the life altering impacts of Hurricane Helene and Milton. Every homeowner Samaritan’s Purse volunteers are able to help is a gift from the Lord and a blessing to serve. In western North Carolina, eastern Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia, the devastation is great, but the work of the Lord is greater. Samaritan’s Purse is continuing to respond to the recent, devastating hurricanes that have struck families across western North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. To date, we have completed more than 250 helicopter and fixed-wing missions to deliver emergency relief supplies to some of the most isolated and hard-hit areas of western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee. With more airlifts going out daily, we are delivering generators, fuel, heaters, blankets, medical kits, food, water, and Starlinks to communities cut off by floodwaters, mudslides, and washed-out roads. Aircraft from private businesses, individuals, non-profit organizations, the North Carolina Army National Guard, and the U.S. Army have joined together to make this large-scale response possible. In addition to air missions, Samaritan’s Purse has deployed Disaster Relief Units to Asheville, Boone, and Burnsville, NC; Perry and Tampa, FL; and Valdosta, GA. Over 13,000 volunteers have served more than 700 families so far, providing critical help by mudding out flooded homes, clearing debris, removing downed trees, and tarping roofs. Our U.S. Disaster Relief teams are committed to remaining on the ground and serving until all of our requests for help have been met. All of this is being done to share the love and hope of Jesus Christ. To get involved and learn more, please visit: https://sampur.se/3BJsk5m
