Samaritan’s Purse is responding to the devastation caused by a deadly tornado outbreak in southeast Missouri and widespread wildfires in Oklahoma. On Friday night, a series of deadly tornadoes tore through Missouri, damaging or destroying between 300-500 homes in Poplar Bluff and additional homes in Wayne County. In total, this severe weather system resulted in at least 42 fatalities—12 of which were in Missouri. This same storm system caused wildfires across Oklahoma that destroyed upwards of 80,000 acres and destroyed nearly 100 homes and structures in Stillwater and surrounding areas. Our team is working closely with local churches and officials to coordinate relief efforts and soon, an army of volunteers will begin serving suffering families in both states.
