San Juan Unified School District Board members, transportation staff and community partners cut the ribbon to a greener future for the district on July 25! ✂️🎀 Six new electric school buses were recently added to San Juan Unified’s fleet, marking a step towards reducing diesel emissions and fuel costs. Nearly identical to its fuel-operated counterparts, these fully-electric vehicles are also quieter than traditional school buses, allowing drivers to better monitor passenger conversations and behavior during routes. 🚌✅ After concluding the ribbon cutting ceremony, attendees hopped onto one of the electric school buses for a mini field trip to Arcade Middle School. 🏫 These buses were made possible through the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation grant, and collaboration with community partners including SMUD, Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, Model 1 Commercial Vehicles and KMM Services, Inc. We look forward to continuing sustainable operations through “greener” energy sources! 💚

Summer literacy touched down at Dyer-Kelly Elementary School with assistance from former Sacramento resident turned NFL player Arik Armstead.🏈📚 San Juan Unified School District collaborated with the Armstead Academic Project, which aids students in need with their educational endeavors.
