Sandbox

Honoured to be elected to the Sandbox Board of Directors as Secretary after more than 7 years as a member of Sandbox: a global community of over 1600 entrepreneurs, creators and changemakers located in over 20 hubs across the world. I first attended a Sandbox open dinner in Singapore back in 2015, applied in 2016 with what is called a WOW project, joined the Singapore hub and attended the Asia retreat in 2017, joined the Elsewhere hub in 2023, and attended the 2024 Global Summit recently held in Vietnam, a transformational experience. My Sandbox journey has been one that has defined my thirties more than anything. And without the support and inspiration from other founders in Sandbox, I would not have chosen the entrepreneurial path. As the saying goes, we become the average of the five people we spend the most time with. So I am excited to engage with and learn from smart, sincere and dynamic individuals in the Sandbox leadership during my term. P.S. We are recruiting soon. Reach out to see if there is a fit.

This year I promised myself I would practice the art of letting go and stepping down from things. I have a tendency to take on more than I can chew, and a desire not to leave things until they feel complete. And yet, sometimes there is never the right time.⌛️ One of my biggest commitments over the last 3.5 years was leading the Sandbox London Community as an Ambassador (and serving in the Governance Council for 2-3 years before then). In January I recruited and handed out to 4 awesome new Co-Ambassadors Juliette Devillard Vladimir Mozhaev Lindsay Strouse Jason Buwanabala (a much more sustainable team who are already excelling and bringing energy to the hub 🥳!) having run their first successful un-retreat within a few weeks of stepping up. Talk about action! 🎬 In many ways I felt ready to close this chapter of my life, and create space for all the other projects on the waiting list 🤣. There was also a little grief as community building is at the heart of my identity. But I know that this energy will never go away⚡️. It’s also been a really rich and rewarding leadership experience full of learning, connection and fun 🥰. It has also been a lot of work, especially as I worked solo for the last 1.5 years! 💪 I’m especially proud to have (co)led the recruitment of two new cohorts 👨👩👦👦(2021, 2023), 2 London retreats 🏡, and many many rich reflective dinners. 🥘. I was incredibly touched by the love that has been sent my way since I announced the news (DMs, messages in the group chat and Georgie Love Fest dinner 💜, complete with a Georgie-style conversation menu designed by Lindsay Strouse that was so thoughtful!) . Not only did I feel appreciated and seen for my commitments, others’ reflections have helped me understand what my most valuable leadership qualities are (a few hints: balancing being logical and getting stuff done ✅ with warmth and emotional intelligence 💕, the art of nudging others into action ➡️, and showing up and committing to the community💯).
