It’s #waytogowednesday 🎉 Congratulations to Mrs. Jessica Smith on her newest accomplishment- she is now a Certified level #OrtonGillingham practitioner! In addition to this certification Mrs. Smith has also attained the honor of becoming Fellow-in-training (FIT) under the supervision of Fellow Anne Vickers. This esteemed process takes a minimum of three years to achieve. Mrs. Smith completed 170 hours of Orton-Gillingham course work and over 100 hours of practicum with Fellow Anne Vickers. The practicum, which takes two years to complete, includes supervised teaching with formal observations and a lengthy required reading list. There is also an extensive application process requiring three lesson plans, writing an extensive student profile, an essay and two letters of recommendation. Wow! Way to go, Mrs. Smith! 🥳

#FieldTripFriday 🚌 Our 4th & 5th graders ventured off campus yesterday and toured the Governor’s mansion & the State House! 🏛️ Highlight of the day- A special shout out in the House of Representatives!! 🧑🏽⚖️ Sandhills students are future leaders for sure, but maybe even future Representatives or Governors, too!

👏🏽 Congratulations to James B. ‘25, Parliamentarian for the 24-25 SCISA Student Association! 👨⚖️ James is Sandhills School’s first student to run for State office and the first to be elected! 🎉 Representatives from our Student Council spent two days in Myrtle Beach with 27 other SCISA schools and 370 students at the Spring Leadership Convention. During that time James campaigned, performing a skit on day one and delivering a candidate speech on day two. After elections James was sworn into office to assume his new duties for the upcoming school year. What an amazing experience for James and Sandhills School! 💜
