About us
San Luis, Arizona, is located at the Southwest corner of the State of Arizona, adjacent to the Colorado River and right at the border with San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexico, and California. Visitors cross the border between both cities daily, creating a fluidity that impacts all aspects of life, culture, language, heritage, environment, and, most importantly, economy. San Luis was incorporated in 1979; as a young city, San Luis' appeal extends to the abundance of affordable housing and quality of life essential to attracting new residents. A great educational structure focused on providing higher education and low crime makes this city a unique place to call home. Shopping in San Luis provides a range of diverse retail stores located downtown adjacent to the border. Shopping in the Mexican border town is always a favorite. The open-air markets in neighboring towns offer Mexican souvenirs, dentists, doctors, and pharmacies within walking distance from the border. San Luis' rich heritage and cultural appeal make this city a unique community.

Happy National Police Women's Day! 🚓 💙 Today, we shine a spotlight on the incredible women of the San Luis Police Department. Celebrated every September 12th, National Police Women's Day honors the invaluable contributions of female police officers who uphold law and order across the country. Despite women making up only about 12% of law enforcement officers in the United States, their impact is monumental. A special shoutout to the remarkable women of the San Luis Police Department: Sgt. Yadira Bobadilla, Officer Marleny Gonzalez, Officer Cynthia Andrade, Officer Brenda Acosta, Officer Nayeli Soto, and Officer Karolina Gonzalez. Your dedication, bravery, and service inspire us every day. #NationalPoliceWomensDay #WomenInBlue #SanLuisPD #sanluisaz

Last week, city officials from Arizona gathered for the AZ Cities Annual Conference. The League of AZ Cities and Towns supports local self-government and municipal independence and provides professional assistance to municipal governments in the state. Council Member Matias Rosales represented Mayor Nieves Riedel in the Resolution Committee and carried the flag during the Parade of Flags, which celebrated all 91 incorporated cities and towns in Arizona. He also presented during a session on Border Cities. The conference concluded with the Governor ad Award Luncheon, during which Governor Katie Hobbs addressed the attendees. During the Luncheon, Council Member Matias Rosales, Council Member Maria Cecilia Cruz, and Vice Mayor Gloria Torres were recognized for their years of service. The day ended with the Showcase of Cities and Towns, where localities presented their products and attractions. Notably, Gadsden Elementary School District #32 Estrella Norteno represented the City of San Luis, and Azul Cafe was showcased as one of the city's businesses.
