Our Mariachi Band students from Santa Monica High School took the time after their performance to show me the skills that they have developed and specifics related to their instruments. Thank you to our music teachers and students who are cultivating this cultural experience in our community.

Roosevelt Elementary School hosted its Campus Environmental Impact Community Meeting on Wednesday, September 25. This meeting provides the District valuable community informed feedback that will be considered when moving forward in the design process. Topics discussed included an overview of the project and the proposed campus plan, historic resources, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), review of project alternatives and plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Building community and creating a sense of belonging within our school community is extremely important. Roosevelt Elementary and Dr. Amy Onyendu invites her families to share in their lunch experience by grade level in the fall and again in the spring. Seeing our families outside experiencing what our students experience each day is very important to community building. Why not add to the excitement by adding Dodger Day with staff and students supporting their local team.

Roosevelt Elementary teachers were focused on Cognitively Guided instruction/CGI. Which is based upon 30 years of research. A framework that helps teachers understand how children's mathematical ideas develop & provides an opportunity to build on the child's own thinking & understanding. These teachers were taking a deep dive into how to best provide instruction for our at promise and ELL students. Which will ultimately lead to the success of all students in math K-5. Keep up the great work that you have started principal Dr. Amy Onyendu!

What a fabulous partnership with City of Santa Monica's Police Department. We are so grateful for this collaboration and the LEAD program supporting the development and growth of our middle school Club members!
This fall, our John Adams Middle School Club is continuing a partnership with the Santa Monica Police Department's LEAD (Leadership, Engagement, Achievement, Discovery) program. Through this intentional program, police officers work together with Club staff to empower members with the skills and relationships they need to tackle middle school and beyond. This fall officers and coaches Greg and Samuel have been working with JAMS members on their basketball skills while providing practical tools and prevention strategies to help our kids learn and grow. Thank you, SMPD, for supporting our youth!
