  • Vote YES on J for Santa Maria high schools! ✅ Relieve student overcrowding! Protect Student Safety! Prepare graduates for success in college and career! All local high schools are severely overcrowded. Most were built for 2,000 students, now serve more than 3,000 students, and continue to grow. Studies show that overcrowded schools are not safe, making it harder to respond to emergencies, increasing health risks and campus violence. Each day, thousands of local students attend class in 50 temporary portable classrooms that are more than 20 years old and deteriorating. Some have structural damage and water leaks. Student safety and security is a top priority. Safety and security improvements are needed to protect our local students, teachers, and staff in case of an emergency. • Every child deserves to learn in safe, modern school facilities. Help continue to make it true for the youngest learners in OUR community. VOTE YES on Measure K. ✅ Ten years ago, our voters approved Measure T, a local school bond authorizing upgrades to Santa Maria-Bonita School District (SMBSD) neighborhood elementary and junior high schools. Since then, as Measure T projects were delivered on time and on budget, families have continued moving into our community, and enrollment has climbed even higher. Several SMBSD schools built for 600 students, now serve over 1,000 students. Some classrooms are still bursting at the seams. Studies show that overcrowded, aging schools are not safe. Overcrowding makes it harder to respond in emergencies, elevates health risks, and increases potential for conflict at school. To improve the local quality of education, we need additional classrooms and upgrades to schools built over 50 years ago. Measure K will help. ✅ For more information, visit https://lnkd.in/gta2T5xh
