We deeply appreciate the efforts of everyone who came together to make the 3rd Annual SAFE Symposium a success. This week, the SAFE Coalition, comprised of various organizations and individuals across the state of Utah, came together to stop child sexual abuse by changing Utahn’s perceptions of the issue and moving them to act. During the event, the audience was inspired by keynote speakers, including Dr. Fatima Maada, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, James Eltroy Dixon, known as The Absolut Motivator, and community activists Lacey Byrd and Caroline Ashton. There was also an opportunity for co-creation, where attendees shared their ideas to lead change. A special thank you to all the partners who helped put this event together!   A Bolder Way Forward Child Sexual Abuse Spoke PHASE Alliance Prevent Child Abuse Utah UTAH'S CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER PROGRAM Utah Coalition for Protecting Childhood Utah Women & Leadership Project The Policy Project GenerationAll Voices for Utah Children Adair | Evans Attorney at Law Family Haven Loveland Living Planet Aquarium

Grounding techniques like the 5-4-3-2-1 exercise provide you with an anchor—a steady connection to the current moment. Engaging your senses can be especially helpful during times of acute distress, like panic attacks. Aim to identify five things you can see, four you can touch, three sounds, two scents, and one taste. Visit https://lnkd.in/g4Vpuixz to learn more about grounding techniques and how they can benefit you on your healing journey. #Saprea #Grounding #MentalHealth #HealingJourney

This week Chris Yadon, MPA, Managing Director of Saprea sat down with KUTV to discuss the impact of A.I. and how it relates to the issue of child sexual abuse. Chris discussed how this technology is being used to extort money and other things from children. As technology continues to rapidly change and sextortion becomes an increasingly concerning issue, Saprea offers prevention resources for parents to help navigate these conversations.   Read Saprea’s blog on Understanding Sextortion and the Threat. https://lnkd.in/gJx8fBup

Imagine being a thirteen-year-old girl, just starting eighth grade, excited about the new school year. On a Saturday morning, your phone buzzes with a message from an unknown person. You open it, only to read a terrifying threat: “I have a nude picture of you. If you don’t send more nude pics, I’ll share it with everyone at school.” You’re confused. You’ve never taken such a picture. It must be a cruel joke, you think—until another message arrives with an altered version of a photo you posted the night before. In it, you were fully clothed, but now something is horribly wrong—you're naked. Panic sets in. How could this happen? You’re overwhelmed with fear, not knowing where to turn for help. This isn’t fiction—children are being sexually exploited through AI-powered undressing or nudify apps every day. I am very grateful to KUTV 2News / KMYU for giving me time to talk to parents about what we can do.

It all began with a promise to a friend to make a difference in the world. After overcoming Leukemia, Derek Maxfield sought a way to fulfill his commitment. Years later, during a conversation with his wife, Shelaine Maxfield, they discussed that someone should “do something” to help adult female survivors of child sexual abuse after learning the story of a loved one. In 2014, the Maxfield family established Saprea to fight child sexual abuse and its lasting impacts through healing and prevention services. Here is their story!
