🎉 Congratulations to our latest #smhHERO: Alis Senver, RN. 👏 💙 Earlier this year, Alis came across a devastating car accident involving several teenagers who were T-boned. Out of the five teens involved, two were airlifted to All Children’s Hospital. Without hesitation, Alis sprang into action, assisting the injured teens by contacting their families and doing her best to keep them calm until first responders arrived. “She went above and beyond her call of duty and I am so thankful for her stopping at the accident,” said one of the parents. Many thanks to Alis for taking the time to assist members of our community. #HealthcareHero

About us
Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is a regional referral center offering Southwest Florida’s greatest breadth and depth of care, with more than 1,800 physicians and advanced practice providers and more than a million patient visits across its two hospital campuses, freestanding ER, and network of outpatient care centers. Its flagship 897-bed Sarasota hospital has been consistently recognized as one of the nation’s best, with superior patient outcomes and a comprehensive network of services. In 2021, the public health system opened its second acute-care hospital, SMH-Venice, with 178 beds and full range of specialties to serve south Sarasota County. As the region's only public health system – and only not-for-profit – it also serves as a critical safety net for the uninsured and underinsured in Sarasota County.

Sarasota Memorial's Research Institute is proud to participate in the international HEAL-IST trial, a clinical study assessing a hybrid cardiac ablation procedure for patients with inexplicably high resting heart rates. 💬 “The goal of the study is to determine if this sinus node-sparing hybrid ablation approach can safely and effectively reduce elevated heart rate and potentially improve quality of life among patients who don’t respond to or cannot tolerate medications to treat this type of arrhythmia,” said cardiothoracic surgeon Paul Vesco, MD, Principal Investigator of this study. At Sarasota Memorial, we understand that facing a diagnosis of prostate cancer can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone. Sarasota Memorial's Research Institute is proud to announce its participation in the Solar-Stage study, aimed at enhancing how we diagnose and stage this common disease. This trial explores a new imaging agent, Copper Cu 64 PSMA I&T, which helps physicians see tumors more clearly through advanced scans, helping to guide treatment decisions. 💬 “My hope is that the Curium 64 Solar Stage Research Study will help patients by clearly and accurately outlining the extent of their disease prior to surgery,” said Robert I. Carey, MD PhD FACS, Principal Investigator of this study. Dr. Carey shared that this treatment may spare patients from future toxic therapies. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dV8rbq8E
