Bitcoin Mining Basics: 1. Offtake Pole: is a distribution point in the power line system where power is taken (or “offtaken”) from the main transmission line and distributed to other, typically lower-voltage, distribution lines, or in this case, a Bitcoin Mining facility. This pole acts as the branching point from a high-voltage transmission line to a lower-voltage distribution line. 2. Recloser: is an automated high-voltage switch typically found in distribution lines. Its primary function is to detect and momentarily interrupt faults (like a short circuit or tree branch contact) and then automatically restore power if the fault is cleared, which often happens when transient faults occur. Reclosers improve reliability by minimizing outages due to temporary faults. If the fault persists, the recloser will lock out after a set number of attempts, requiring manual intervention to restore power.
