This year is already proving to be an active fire season, and the Quick Reaction Force continues to support firefighters as they battle wildfires across Southern California. SCE’s wildfire mitigation efforts have helped reduce the risk of losses from catastrophic wildfires by 85% to more than 90% since pre-2018 levels. Part of ensuring the safety of our communities is with the Quick Reaction Force, an aerial firefighting fleet of helitankers that can rapidly respond and stop wildfires before they get out of control. 🚁 Read more about the QRF’s unique advantages: https://lnkd.in/gxfvHWTE Thanks to Los Angeles County Fire Department, Orange County Fire Authority, Ventura County Fire Department and Cottie Petrie-Norris for our partnership.

#RenewableEnergy 🌤️ Learn how SCE is working with the Solar on Multifamily Affordable Housing (SOMAH) program to provide rebates to property owners who install solar systems for qualified underserved communities. “By offering financial incentives for the installation of solar panel systems, SOMAH is making clean energy accessible to those who need it most and otherwise would not have access to the benefits,” says Rene Valencia, SCE’s manager of Customer Generation Incentive Programs. A statewide initiative, SOMAH can help both renters and building owners receive credits on their electric bills from the energy generated by the solar panels. 🐐 DYK that goats can help safely and sustainably remove vegetation? Keeping trees and brush at manageable heights below power lines is essential to reducing the potential for power outages and the risk of wildfires. “The goats are easily able to eliminate overgrown brush near our power line right of ways, in areas where terrain may be difficult for crews and equipment to access,” said Sarah Hendrix, senior utility arborist with SCE’s Vegetation Management team. #811Day is National Safe Digging Day 👷⛏️ As 811 Day approaches this Sunday, Aug. 11, we are reminding our customers and communities to always call 811 at least two-three days before starting any digging project to have underground utility lines marked for free. “No matter how small the digging project is, it’s critical,” says Ted Gribble, PE, principal manager of Wildfire and Public Safety at SCE. “We remind homeowners and professional excavators alike that calling #811 before any dig is the only way to perform this work safely, protecting you and your community.” Data shows about 40% of homeowners and professional excavators do not call 811, leading to hundreds of thousands of utility strike incidents nationwide and causing an estimated $30 million in damages annually. Learn how to request free underground utility line markings, get #safety tips, and see the full story at ENERGIZED. https://lnkd.in/gMqvvnuY
