English: Last Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Chessie, the tunnel boring machine (TBM) operated by FlatironDragados on the Parallel Thimble Shoal Project for the Chesapeake Tunnel Authority, successfully completed mining under the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia, creating a new tunnel between two artificial islands. This milestone marks the culmination of years of planning, engineering, design, assembly, temporary works, and excavation in an extremely challenging environment. The dedication, expertise, and leadership of the women and men at Chesapeake Tunnel Joint Venture made this achievement possible. Underground construction is one of the many areas of expertise of the newly formed FlatironDragados in North America, which includes Schiavone Construction Co. LLC and the former Dragados USA, Inc.   Castellano: El pasado miércoles 29 de enero de 2025, “Chessie”, la tuneladora operada por FlatironDragados en el Proyecto Parallel Thimble Shoal para el cliente Chesapeake Tunnel Authority, completó con éxito la excavación bajo la Bahía de Chesapeake, en Virginia (EE.UU.), creando un nuevo túnel entre dos islas artificiales.
