On Sunday, friends and fans joined Soma Golden Behr's family to celebrate the co-founder of @ScholarshipPlus. The stories spanning her life confirmed all the things we knew to be true: Soma was feisty ✔️ innovative ✔️ she led with heart, and her brilliant brain was always right behind to support new ideas with strategy and research ✔️ It showed up in her Pulitzer prize winning reporting and editing, her leadership at the New York Times, and most vividly to us — in her vision for Scholarship Plus. Soma, your heart was big. Your fight for just treatment and equity always at the forefront. And lord, you were funny. We miss you every day. Thank goodness you always let your strong opinions be known, because now we can still hear you, and continue to honor what you started. love, your SPlus fam

We are so proud to know this guy. Rosalino — the way you combine your brilliance with positive impact is straight-up fun and inspiring to follow. Also, you're an amazing speaker (side hustle alert?!). Thank you for being our Masterclass Keynote this year. You brought the vulnerability with the lessons with the encouragement. Keep going!!! Everyone at Scholarship Plus is rooting for you.
Walmart we are LIVEEEEE!!! 🚨🚨🚨 A few weeks back we began rolling out our fresh baby food options across Walmart de México y Centroamérica. What initially started as a meeting where buyers said "we could never do fresh baby food in our stores" quickly turned into a "let's do this!" within 30 MINUTES! Since then, we’ve executed on bringing branded refrigerators to the baby food section of Mexico's largest retailer, for the FIRST TIME EVER IN LATAM🤯🤯 This is just the beginning in our master plan to replace ultra-processed baby food with fresh & healthy options across the country - so as we roll out in Mexico City, more fridges are on their way to Guadalajara and Monterrey soon!!! This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our incredible team, partners, and Walmart de México y Centroamérica. Here’s to more growth, innovation, and healthier options for babies across the country! #HealthyEating #FreshFoods #FreshBabyFood #WalmartMexico #Innovation #Entrepreneurship

Let’s do this backwards. Kadijat Sylla, first year MBA student at Columbia University (!), first Scholarship Plus alum member — and then Chair! — of our associate board, who also revamped our alumni engagement with more alumni repping on the AB than ever and an annual Field Day. All after joining the SPlus fam in 2016, graduating as a firstgen scholar from University of Pennsylvania and launching her career as a consultant at Accenture. Talk about a powerhouse. Kadijat, thank you for your vision and leadership. On to your next chapter! • • • #scholarshipplus #community #alumni #firstgen

When Scholarship Plus community members collaborate, our hearts swell. Thank you Valerie Irick Rainford for making SPlus your first stop shop for the time and skills of brilliant scholars — whether it's to work at Elloree Talent Strategies the business or in Elloree the town. Nicholas Jun took a sharp(ish) turn in college to focus on filmmaking, but his long list of artistic skills and gifts had already set him up for it. This film is short, it is beautiful, and it is quote-worthy: “If we wanted to be educated, we’ve better figure it out ourselves.” All about the education, and the collaborations. We hope you'll spend 5 min. with the folks of Elloree and Brown Chapel ✌ #scholarshipplus #community #film
I am thrilled to share a film project that has been in my head and on my heart for years. 🎬 ✨ We just completed a short film profiling Brown Chapel AME Church in Elloree, South Carolina—the church home of my family for generations. Like many black churches in the rural South, they need support to survive. This film celebrates the rich legacy of Brown Chapel AME and aims to help raise much-needed funds for its preservation. Thank you to Scholarship Plus for helping me discover summer Intern and film student, Nicholas Jun who traveled with me to Elloree and created the film. Nic did a GREAT job! Join me in uplifting Brown Chapel AME Church and preserving a piece of history. 🙏🏽❤️ #SupportBrownChapel #BlackChurches #BlackHistory Link to View the Film: https://lnkd.in/eBmExdjj Link to Donate: https://lnkd.in/ejbdxEfy

Everything you need to know about whether to add/drop a class! (Via Harlan Cohen) FIRST: When is your deadline? For many schools, it’s TODAY 9/3 🚩 The add/drop period is a time at the beginning of a semester when students can add or drop courses without penalty. If you decide to drop a class after this period, you may 1) lose reimbursement for the course and/or 2) need to Withdraw, which results in a W on your transcript and loss of those credits. While a W is better than a failing grade, and does not impact your GPA, it’s better to drop a class earlier — especially since you can also ADD one in its place to maintain a full credit-load, which is important for financial aid. Talk to your advisor! If they are not available, and the deadline is now, ask to speak with another advisor who can help you. Advocate for yourself! 🫶🏽 Document your conversations with advisors by emailing them summaries of your meeting! How to know if you should drop a class after attending one session and/or reading full syllabus: - Overscheduled: You might have taken on too many courses at once - Not a good fit: The professor's teaching style might not be a good match for your learning style - Struggling: You might not think you can get a passing grade - Class is too easy: You might want to advance faster - Interests or future decisions have changed: 75% of college students change their major - Health challenges, including mental health: You might have developed health challenges #college #collegetips #adddrop #collegeadvisor #collegelife #collegestudent #scholarshipplus #scholarship
