🙌 🎉 School Resources Exchange is now live! 🚀 🎊 We're at the infancy stage and our next big push is focusing on getting the message out to schools that we're operational. If you're connected on LinkedIn to a school staff member, please tag them in this post and please share widely with your networks. Schools are struggling financially – as the continuing strikes this week are testament to – with many unable to justify spend on school supplies and resources. It is becoming commonplace for schools to go without essential resources and equipment. During the strikes earlier in the year, teachers spoke out about using their money to top-up classroom supplies. Although schools are cash-poor they do have assets which are of value – namely surplus items sitting unused in storage areas. These unused items have a monetary value – which can generate income for a school – whilst also solving a resource shortage in another school. The service is free for schools to use. Every school can register for an account through which they can do the following: - Sell – list their no-longer-needed items for sale and generate extra income - Buy – direct from another school (trusted source) at an affordable price - Swap – get needed items without spending any budgetary funds - Place wanted ads – request specific items they are in need of. Help us in building a UK-wide schools' circular economy and ensure no school has to do without. #launch #schools #teachers #sbm #sbl #education #schooledtech #sustainability #circulareconomy #femalefounders #womeninbusiness #schoolresources #schoolresourcesexchange

About us
School Resources Exchange is an education start-up business and our team comes from a schools’ background. Having seen first-hand the same two scenarios occurring in schools – minimal budget to invest in new or replacement school supplies and ‘no longer useful’ resources filling up storage areas – we wanted to find a way to help schools easily connect in order to swap items or make some extra revenue for their school by selling on those unused items. Since forming School Resources Exchange in 2018, we have been working with teachers and schools to design and develop the service. We launched to 'early adopter schools' in October 2019 and we're now starting to get the word out to schools across the UK. Our aims for the service are to: - Help schools get the resources/equipment/supplies they need – whether by swapping items with another school or buying them at an affordable price - Help schools generate additional school revenue through the sale of ‘no longer useful’ items - Provide schools with a direct route to donate items to education charities - Champion sustainability within schools.

We're celebrating our 1st birthday! And what a year it has been! Here's a snapshot of our journey these last 12 months. 🌟 Over 300 schools have signed up! We have schools throughout England, Wales and Scotland. We're starting to see those strong localised and regional networks happening, with particularly strong school presences in Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Oxfordshire and Essex. 🌟 Over 2,800 items have been added to the site. The items have ranged in size, type and materials make-up. We've had tables, chairs, musical instruments, catering equipment, textbooks, electronics and even a mini-bus! 🌟 Five Councils have given us their support and have promoted the service to schools in their localities. We're looking forward to doing more in this space with the support of Councils. 🌟 We've been running a monthly giveaway to schools since January 2024. By the end of July, we'll have given £,1400 to seven schools. The money is being spent of a range of fantastic initiatives - from equipping a new science lab to kitting out a new SEN facility. 🌟 We attended our first schools' conference, both in an exhibitor and speaker capacity. A special thanks to the Edinburgh School for the invite to speak and to all of the School Business Managers on the day who got right behind the service! For every item not added to general waste but instead passed on: 💠 there are cost savings (on waste management fees and landfill tax) to be made for a school 💠another school is better equipped 💠CO2 emissions are reduced 💠landfill strain is reduced 💠items lifecycles are extended. Small changes add-up to huge impacts. So apart from growing our school numbers, what lies in store for Year 2? Here's a small teaser... green procurement and data. Thank you to everyone - and especially our schools - who have supported us to date. We love working with you all. And if you want to help: 💠share this post with your network 💠tell a school / people who work in schools about us.

We've been live for c7 months. So how are we doing? We said we wanted to be a nationwide service. We have schools using us across England, Wales and Scotland. (Northern Ireland - we're coming for you!) Fun fact - we have schools in Penzance, the Isle of Wight and Orkney. As geographical spread goes, that is pretty amazing! We said we wanted to build strong regional networks to make sharing resources locally easier. We have schools using us in: - 44 English counties - 4 Scottish counties - 2 Welsh counties. This is HUGE! On the site we currently have 130+ listings supporting 2,300+ items. That is a vast amount of items schools are actively trying to re-home. Through the service we are able to: - re-home school items and get them into schools where they are needed most - save items from landfill - help schools to generate some extra revenue from their surplus items. It's a win-win for every school involved and the wider education sector. As always, thank you to our schools. School Resources Exchange Ltd #schools #circulareconomy

🙌 We've just contacted our January school winner to let them know the good news! Once everything has been officially confirmed, we'll announce who it is!
🎉 Today is #InternationalDayofEducation so it feels extra special to announce that School Resources Exchange will be doing a 12-month giveaway to schools. Every month of 2024, we will give a school £200. Across the year we will give £2,400 directly to schools. While it's a far cry from solving the budget crisis for many schools, it's our pledge that School Resources Exchange is serious about our commitment to helping schools. Here's how it will work: - Schools need to be registered with School Resources Exchange. - All registered schools will be eligible for every draw. - Schools will be allocated a number. If their number is drawn, they will win the £200. - School Resources Exchange will notify the winning school. We'll also name the winning school on social media (e.g. X, LinkedIn) in order to make the process fully transparent. - 12-month giveaway Terms and Conditions can be found here: https://lnkd.in/ePAdJQNq You can help us get the word out: - share this post with your LinkedIn network - tag someone you know who works in education #schools #primaryschool #secondaryschool #teachers #education #headteachers #schoolleaders #schoolfinance #circulareconomy #edtech #climatetech #giveaway
