We had a wonderful time hosting a part of the Dutch trade mission in our facility!
A manufacturing sector in the midst of a major transformation, countless new connections, three company site visits, a meet-and-greet with the governor, and one enormous trade show—two weeks ago we wrapped up a trade mission bringing eight innovative Dutch companies to Chicago for #IMTS2024. A few couple takeaways from a packed program: ● 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐒 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: a recurring theme throughout the week, from a presentation by AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology's Christopher Chidzik to informal conversations on the IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show floor, underlined that US manufacturing receiving more investment from government and industry than in many years. ● 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: with retirements and rising wages on the workforce side and increased investment on the production side entering a manufacturing base that has very different capabilities than it once did, industry and government are looking to new technology to alleviate bottlenecks, strengthen production capacity, and build resiliency. Automation, digitization, new materials and new techniques—there is an increased openness to adopting new solutions in an environmental of high investment, high competition, and a tight labor market. A visit to Sciaky, Inc. helped demonstrate how companies are turning to new machines to create more efficient new parts, faster. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed the program, sharing their expertise, their spaces, and their time, including Kurt Dykstra of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c., Jozef Jansen from TECHNYMON - Global Bearing Technologies, Louis Tegelaers of IHI Hauzer Techno Coating, John O'Hara at Sciaky, Inc., Carlos Beira of Carl Stahl DecorCable Innovations Inc., Joe Moseley of mHUB , Mark Denzler of the Illinois Manufacturers' Association, Annika Björkholm of SwipeGuide, and many more. Also to our co-organizers handelsroute.nl, Netherlands Enterprise Agency , and Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM).
