Please join us to celebrate:    Conceivable, a Story of Perseverance! Book Launch/Gala/Fund-Raiser  for SCIboston Friday, November 8th, 2024, 6:00-9:00 pm Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Westborough, MA  There will be food, door prizes, raffles, and blind auctions Cocktail Attire  Conceivable is a children’s book inspired by David Lowy, written by Tom Salvemini, and illustrated by Ed Turner. Conceivable tells the story of a person with a spinal cord injury participating in activities that to some may seem inconceivable. The story demonstrates how conceivable it is for someone with a spinal cord injury to participate in all kinds of activities. In addition to celebrating with us and sharing in the launch of Conceivable, we are also asking you to consider donating to SCIboston to help individuals overcome their life-altering injuries and empower them to achieve their goals. Your donation enables us to continue offering programs to the SCI community that support our ongoing mission to reach, inspire, support, and empower individuals with spinal cord injuries and their family members. The funds raised at this event will continue to support our longstanding programs, including 1:1 Peer Mentoring, Support Groups, Education Programs, Social Events, resources, and more. David's message to others is that, "If you can conceive of doing something challenging or difficult, then you can and will do it!" Ticket link below or in our bio! https://lnkd.in/edUeJhYQ

SCIBoston is feeling very grateful to Allie Skelley for his recent efforts to raise over $7000 for SCIboston's Travis Roy Legacy Grant Program. Allie has been a long standing supporter of SCIboston and is an SCI survivor himself. Allie has participated in many fundraising efforts in the past for the Travis Roy Foundation. Last year he stand-up paddle boarded around Aquidneck Island for his first SCIboston fundraiser.   This year Allie reached out to SCIboston and said he would like to try (and I quote ) " to hike 24 of New Hampshire's hardest hikes as fast as possible". Allie gave himself 11 days to complete this task and not surprisingly, he was able to achieve his goal! All in the name of raising money for SCIboston. Allie chose these specific numbers because of their significance to Travis Roy. Travis wore #24 on his hockey jersey and was on the ice for his first NCAA hockey game for 11 seconds before sustaining a life altering spinal cord injury.    SCIboston would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to Allie for his fundraising efforts this year! Allie's efforts will have a significant impact on our community by contributing to our quality of life grant program.    You can still donate to his campaign here! https://lnkd.in/dKX3AYd7

Allie is more than halfway through his 24 climbs! He's hiking the tallest peaks in New Hampshire to raise funds for SCIboston's Travis Roy Legacy Grant Program which provides durable medical equipment and vehicle modification grants that are not covered by insurance to individuals with spinal cord injuries. He also hikes to raise awareness about spinal cord injury. Allie was good friends with Travis Roy and continues raising money in honor of Travis. Travis' jersey number was 24 and he was on the ice for 11 seconds before he suffered his spot up with injury. To donate to Allie's campaign go to https://lnkd.in/dKX3AYd7 or the link in our bio on Instagram. Thank you to everyone that has donated so far!

On July 26th, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law, strengthening protections against discrimination for people with disabilities like never before. Today, we thank all who have fought for us by continuing to fight for disability justice. Take action and advocate today! Sign up using the link in our bio to receive advocacy alerts! ATTENTION OUTDOOR LOVERS! Urgent Advocacy Needed by Thursday From: Unpaved Trails For All Hello Accessible Trail Bill Supporters, Once again the Trails For All Act has been attached to a version of the Economic Development Bond Bill- this time in the State Senate! This is another chance (and possibly the last, best, chance) to get the Trails For All Act passed before the end of the legislative session in a few weeks. To make this happen we need your help with two things: 1. Contact your State Senator and key legislative members by this Thursday and ask them to support Amendment 35 on S.2856. 2. Share this development, and ask folks in your network to contact the State Senate (whether it's family, friends, followers, organization members, colleagues, and peers). Even if you've contacted the Senate before, please contact them again and make the case for how this issue connects to the Economy. Economic talking points, a sample email, and the contact information for Senators and Staffers are in this document-https://lnkd.in/eihfWzrJ (you can fin the link in our bio) The louder we are, the better the chance that the Trails For All Act gets passed as part of the Senate Economic Bond Bill. If it passes the Senate, the House would be forced to look at the issue again- giving us a second chance to make our case with the Representatives. @senspilka @rodriguesforsenate @unpavedtrails4all
