Had a great time in Morocco recently. We are nearing the end of our project to help the DGSN build and accredit a Firearms Section and train examiners in Casablanca. This was my last trip over until their assessment is over and I was so honored and shocked that the section had a painting made of me for me as appreciation! I am so proud of the laboratory and everyone that is working so hard to achieve this monumental goal! Florida International University

New contract for SCL FORENSICS!! Pleased to assist The Wyoming State Crime Laboraory in Cheyenne. What a gorgeous state and I loved the weather except for the rain. The people in the lab were great to work with and we are excited to continue this relationship!

SCL FORENSICS was at the Massachusetts State Police recently training the Firearms Section in a Determination of Subclass Characteristics. Our Trainers assisted 8 examiners/trainees for a week long course where they test fired firearms, casted firearms, examined firearm samples (bullets/cartridge cases) and worked on the comparison microscopes with varying ranges of difficulty in samples/firearms. We had an excellent week of training and look forward to assisting more where we can. In addition to Morroco, SCL FORENSICS and Global Forensic and Justice Center are state side assisting the Houston Forensic Science Center, Inc. in training our second group of Firearm trainees. They have just started comparison microscopy with cartridge cases and are feeling how exciting comparison work can be but also something called eye strain.. thankfully, we have some great contractors that are experienced in these areas to assist them! In the last month SCL FORENSICS has been working with multiple law enforcement agencies across 2 countries and 4 states regarding Firearm & Tool Mark Training, Laboraory Development, and Section Management. SCL FORENSICS was at the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners Annual Conference in Anchorage Alaska- always a great time to meet new people and exchange information. Also very proud that one of our examiners won the 2024 AFTE Member of the Year award - congrats Eric Warren, Ph.D.

SCL FORENSICS just got back from a second trip to Morocco this year and we are honored to be a a part of their history. We have been hired by Florida International University Global Forensic Justice Center to assist in the formation of a new Firearms Section with the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) Laboratory of Scientific Technical Police. Additionally we are training 5 people to be Firearm Examiners and assisting with ANAB accreditation of this section. This will be the first accredited Firearms Section in the county. Very honored to share with you that SCL FORENSICS and Florida International University/Global Forensic and Justice Center just finished our first round of training at the Houston Forensic Science Center, Inc. Our two trainees spent 10 months going through a comprehensive Firearm Examiner program. We are very proud of them and cannot wait to see the amazing examiners they will become! Additionally, I am excited to announce, we have been hired again to train the second round of examiners with HFSC.. this time we have three trainees so SCL Forensics is expanding - hired another phenomenal examiner to the team! As a reward to our current trainees and welcoming the new trainees I was able to get us a tour at Sam Houston’s Body Farm (STAFS) in Huntsville, TX. We are extremely honored to have our contract renewed with the Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland. We have been able to assist the Firearms Examination Unit with consultation services and case work for over a year and a half; regardless if it’s Backlog cases, High priorities, restructuring policies, or providing validation services….
