“Here at Scotts we understand the immense power of natural green spaces and the role they play in helping kids and their families to play, thrive, learn and grow,” said John Sass, Vice President, Chief Creative Officer of ScottsMiracle-Gro. “This has been a passion of ours for the past decade and something that we think about within our own families, so we’re proud to be partnering with Every Kid Sports to help more kids enjoy youth sports and reap all of the benefits of natural green spaces at the same time.” Learn more about the debate over natural turfgrass versus artificial turf and the evidence that supports natural turfgrass. Water is a precious resource, and it’s essential we protect it. The good news is that small actions we can all take make a big difference. Is it time for fall grass feeding? Our lawn expert Matt Koch says that it depends on your location: “In cool-season climates where cool-season grasses are best suited, like the Northern U.S., Midwest and Northeast, early fall feeding typically starts in September or early October when temperatures cool down but before the first frost. For warm-season grasses in the Southern U.S. or Southeast, the feeding schedule may begin earlier in late August or early September, as these regions experience milder winters and longer growing seasons. Timing the first application before the lawn enters dormancy is crucial, and the second feeding would occur 6-8 weeks later, likely in October.” For more on planting grass seed in fall, check out the feature in Men’s Journal:

Our associates at our Fountain, Colorado, facility recently volunteered at the Garden of the Gods located in Colorado Springs. It was a beautiful day for team building, getting their hands dirty and restoring nature trails at this National Natural Landmark. Many thanks to the team for giving back to the community!

Philadelphia is one of the best sports towns in the country, and our Scotts brand is stepping up to help keep the city’s fields safe for young athletes. Through our continued partnership with Every Kid Sports, Scotts has teamed up with Eagles center and lawn enthusiast Landon Dickerson for the “Keep It Real” sweepstakes. The collaboration promotes safer play for all and encourages communities to maintain sports fields with natural turfgrass. The Philly-specific sweepstakes end October 4. Learn more:
