We chat with Josh Barney, Chairman of SEAT -Sports Entertainment Alliance in Technology. SEAT has a great history - the best sports business conference with teams, leagues, and individuals all meeting, learning, networking., We discuss the culture of sports with Josh, a man with a great history in the world of sports, most recently at the Utah Jazz prior to SEAT. Great guy, great conversation.

The Paris 2024 Paralympics Games (International Paralympic Committee) kick-off today and Sports Innovation Lab wanted to highlight not only the powerful athletes with disabilities but also the sport fans with disabilities. Not enough attention is paid to the population of sport fans with disabilities and while technology advancements have created better accessibility features, we still have a long way to go to serve this community. After taking a deep dive into Sports Innovation Lab’s sports data cloud we analyzed the population of sport fans with disabilities and found: 🌟 They are BIG sports fans 🌟 Their fandom is on the rise 🌟 They have immense purchasing power 🌟 They are HUGE fans of baseball To learn more about how teams and leagues are paying attention to this growing fandom and key recommendations for how sports properties can engage with them, read our findings below! This summer, I had the incredible experience of interning for the Sports & Entertainment Alliance in Tech (SEAT) in Las Vegas. I would like to start by thanking Josh Barney, Chaz Walker, and Kim Meltzer, CVEP for this amazing opportunity, as well as my fellow interns and other staff members. I am grateful to have been a part of this team and for the support they gave me at my first-ever conference. In my role, I was responsible for checking in guests and helping them find their way, ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience. I also had the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of sports entertainment through various informational sessions. I'm eager to build on the skills and experiences I've gained. I'm excited to explore new opportunities in the sports industry and to continue to gain a new perspective on athletics. Thank you SEAT!

One of the things about cool people is that they introduce you to their cool people. My friend Kim Meltzer, CVEP introduced me to a new friend Raquel Nash at Esports Awards in November and over dinner we talked about things that mattered. Things that can make the world a better place. I was really a fantastic night. That lead to an introduction from Rocky to Dan Scarfe and an introduction to XRAI Glass. Seeing what they were working on and how it can help those who experience the world differently and make their experiences better was fantastic and cool. Then Rocky introduced me to Darrell Booker and we had a fantastic first meeting. We talked about things that mattered and ways to make the world a better place. My first impression of Darrell was a man who gives more than he takes and gives willingly. Then I met my new friend Dawna Callahan through Jordan Rutner and learned more things that mattered, new perspectives and information that helped me become more educated on this subject. We all got together and talked about this at SEAT in our session about “empowering all fans” and adaptive technology. It was one of my favorite moments at this years event. It has me excited for another project that I am working on with my wife that we can hopefully announce in the very near future. I am thankful that I have been cool people that help me more cool people. Grateful for them.

Josh Barney's passion for supporting those with disabilities at this year's SEAT Conference, provided an opportunity for Dan Scarfe and me to talk about how technology is providing inclusive experiences for all. As a Microsoft Partner, Dan's company XRAI Glass is leveraging our AI services so that those who are deaf or hard of hearing can enjoy a night at the movie theater or even a casual conversation with friends without reading lips by projecting real-time transcription and translation within their line of sight. I'm just thankful that I and my colleagues can champion this type of innovation! Are you a nonprofit leader who can benefit from a pair of these glasses? I'd love to hear from you!

I had the pleasure of coordinating media coverage for the SEAT Conference held at Resorts World Las Vegas last month. The industry-only event showcased cutting-edge technology designed to create fully immersive and inclusive experiences at sports and entertainment venues. Special recognition goes to Darrell Booker of Microsoft and Dan Scarfe of XRAI Glass for their long-term commitment to the community. This story raised awareness of a need to ensure events are enjoyable for all. As a media professional at SAVVY STREAMING and #womanintech, I enjoy bringing amazing people together to make a positive change in the world. Looking forward to sourcing more incredible tech and accessibility leaders for the next SEAT Conference with founder, Josh Barney! Bonus: Being back at the 8 News NOW - KLAS CH. 8 news station where I was recruited for my first digital and livestream producer role was a full circle moment for me. Thank you Celina Tuason, JC Fernandez and Roqui Theus for highlighting this newsworthy story. #AI #TechForGood #Innovation #Accessibility #Inclusion #Events
