Occasionally, I tear myself away from the computer to network IRL! Last week, not only did I hear an amazing stat shared by Naomi Goez on the rise of female founders thanks to a study by Defiance Capital - but separately, it was the first time I shared with a stranger that I founded Sèchey AND THE PERSON KNEW THE BRAND! Everyone is raising, growth capital is scare and even inventory financing is challenging. This is all especially true for #femalefounders, whose share of funding continues to decline, despite statistics and data that clearly show amazing results from women and underrepresented founders. It's even harder to build a consumer brand in this environment, yet we are still growing. I will share my stories as an outlier eventually, and am trying to find some fun in the chaos. Studies like this encourage me, as I know I have a growth mindset, work ethic and unlimited belief in my vision. There is no plan B, and yes I have a chip on my shoulder from years of working in the male dominated fields of tech and retail. #angelinvesting #unicornfounders #fundraising

Woke up on my birthday with so much gratitude! I launched Sèchey three years ago because I believe that we can celebrate, socialize and connect without alcohol - Sèchey represents a lifestyle of choosing what is in your glass - #dryish #sobercurious #alcoholflexible or #alcoholfree. Our dealcoholized wine provides enjoyment on its own, or layered into a cocktail. 3 years ago tomorrow, I formed Sèchey officially as an LLC in Delaware and started working on building an ecommerce business from my house in Charleston. To my LinkedIn network - we are #hiring in our physical store. Candidates must be based in #charleston, have a customer first mindset and be available on the weekends. I found my love of retail at 16 on the sales floor at Macy's, worked in malls all over the country for Lacoste (Yonni Mrejen) and, until about a year ago, I was checking customers out in our stores myself. In retail, leadership comes from the store. This has not changed with the rise of #ecommerce & #omnichannel initiatives, but only increased the importance of a tremendous retail store team who understands the customer because they interact IN REAL LIFE. Not behind text, email and social. We are looking for stellar entry level talent with an interest in specialty retail who will dig in to get sh*t done at a fast growing start-up.

We are halfway through Dry January today! Sharing this Charleston Magazine profile by Helen Mitternight who did an excellent job explaining why Sèchey means dryish, and our approach to alcohol vs alcohol free. I even profess my love for traditional scotch (The Glenlivet) equally as #alcoholfree RASĀSVĀDA (Black Ginger is always in my fridge!). This is my 5th #dryjanuary and just wanted to remind everyone that only 16% of people make it to January 31st...and that's ok! I believe that just introducing alternatives to alcohol when celebrating and socializing is a win for #mindfuldrinking. A little shameless self promotion with gratitude and reflection on how this 'overnight success' came to be...it has been a 30 year journey! From LA to NYC, I've loved the business of retail and worked side hustles well into my 30s to build the foundation of my dreams. #retailcareer #retailindustry My first job in retail was a sales associate at Macy's, then growing with Lacoste in store management and thriving in merchandising with Ballard Designs. Lots of learnings in my first e-commerce business in 2004 with Katie Miller, while still working as a valet to help pay the bills! Thank you to 24 Seven Talent, Salesforce, Matterport and Multimedia Plus for giving me the opportunity to partner with top global retailers to deliver the best in talent and technology. Never imagined 20 years ago when writing a term paper on the book On Target: How the World's Hottest Retailer Hit a Bullseye that my photo would one day be on those shelves. Two years ago today, we opened our first holiday #retailpopup in #Charleston to test the concept of a destination for alternative celebration.
