A Message of Gratitude For the last three years, I’ve watched my successor, Khalil Halim, lead SCC’s “Second Generation,” taking our work to new heights in serving our community. Khalil has built a powerful leadership team, starting with Deputy Executive Director, Candice Sporhase-White. Together, they have: ⭐️Established a Behavioral Health Team, led by Whitney Lovett, with dedicated professional clinicians and counselors providing in-house services to our Client Partners. ⭐️Launched extensive Workforce and Apprenticeship Readiness Programs, led by Rashid Jordan, which has paved the way for our folks to secure mortgage-paying careers, breaking the cycles of generational barriers and challenges. ⭐️Expanded our housing voucher administration, enabling SCC to assist those most in need of securing safe, stable housing, while continuing to maintain a haven of hope for the 60 adults and children living at Providence at the Heights (PATH), led by Wanda Harrison. ⭐️Extended the reach of Second Chance Center In The City, serving those exiting Denver City and County jails and competency court, under the leadership of Ilyas El-Amin. ⭐️Literally brought COMMUNITY to Community Corrections by contracting to provide all case management and program services at The MOORE Center (formerly known as CMI Fox), led by David Coleman. ⭐️Stepped into the role of Developer for our second housing community, the 128-unit Residences on Acoma, set for completion in November 2025. ⭐️Increased operational efficiencies and ensured that our facilities reflect the love and care we have for our Client Partners and our community, led by Malik Al-Maliki. And through it all, we’ve stayed true to the culture that has guided our work since 2012. Our lineup of funders and supporters has grown alongside us, and we’re deeply grateful for your commitment to SCC’s future—thank you all! 🙏🏽 I couldn’t be prouder of the leaders we’ve developed within this dedicated group of community servants. From my “semi-retired” role as Founder, I’ve watched with pride, amazement, and gratitude as this thing of ours has grown larger and even more effective over these last few years. Stepping in when needed, I’ve witnessed Khalil and the team carry this mission forward with care and purpose. Now, after 69 trips around the Sun, I’m ready to begin what might be the final chapter of this journey. Through Latif Consulting and Training Services, LLC, I’ll be sharing the lessons learned over the course of this 12-year-plus journey, offering consulting and training services here in Colorado and across the nation. I’ll continue to promote the “Colorado Model,” which has sparked so much interest over the years. Of course, I’ll always be available to support SCC whenever Khalil calls on me. THANK YOU. 🙏🏽 With love, respect, and gratitude, Hassan A. Latif Founder, Second Chance Center
