We're super excited to be hosting our first #padel #event in #Austin this Saturday Dec 2! If you've never played padel and curious to learn more about the hype, or excited to play more advanced games - come join us for a social afternoon of play and meet the Austin padel community! We're organizing an introductory lesson and clinic, some friendly competition based on your level and of course prizes and drinks to finish. Padel is a grassroot movement taking the world by storm. This beautiful sport has hit all shores from Stockholm to Sao Paulo, Barcelona to Bueons Aires, and Madrid to Mexico City… and now it’s the time for the US padel boom.📍🌎 Some fun facts about padel: 🇲🇽 Padel originated in Mexico in the 1960s out of necessity. Enrique Corcuera set up the first ever padel court at his holiday home in Acapulco, Mexico in 1969. He didn’t have enough space for a tennis court and wanted to stop the tennis balls flying into the neighbors garden – and the rest is history. 🎾 Padel masterfully combines tennis and squash elements. It's easy to play, yet fun to master - appealing to players of all ages and skill levels. People who have never picked up a racket are now padel-holics - playing 3 times a week! And competitive tennis players love it too. 🇺🇸 In recent years, the surge in padel across the United States has been remarkable. Adults aged 20-60 are embracing this social and engaging sport, and quickly upgrading their gym memberships to padel and pickle. Hello Austin! After nearly a decade in the Big Apple, I'm back and couldn't be more thrilled to reunite with old friends and make new ones! Why the return, you ask? Well, there's a new racket in town - Sensa Padel 🎾 When Sensa’s founders Aditya Khilnani and Ludvig Dieden introduced me to the world of Padel, I was hooked. It may seem crazy to bet on a new racket sport when America is in the midst of its pickleball craze... but trust me, Padel is something special 🔥 I initially joined Sensa as an investor and advisor. I soon found myself deeply involved in building our product, marketing, and technology stacks. I even got to bring my great friend Matthew Schoolmaster onto the team as our CTO! 🔆 Earlier this year, on a visit to Austin, I went scouting for a venue. I came across Haute Spot in Cedar Park, where I met Erik Engh and Clark Nowlin, and instantly knew I wanted to associate myself with them. The partnership for Sensa Padel's first facility here in Austin was born. 🤝 But Sensa Padel is more than just courts; it's a community where people unite for the love of exercise, competition, teamwork, and camaraderie. 💚 I truly believe Padel and Pickleball have the power to make us happier, more social, and healthier. It's why I'm so excited to be turning Aditya and Ludvig's vision into a reality. 🚀 And yes, I need your help! Like any startup, we're looking to do things differently.
