Chef Hector Santiago is a celebrated Puerto Rican chef known for his innovative Latin cuisine and his contributions to the Atlanta food scene. He began his culinary journey in San Juan under the mentorship of Chef Giovanna Huyke and later honed his skills at the Culinary Institute of America. Santiago’s career includes stints at top restaurants such as the Manhattan Ocean Club and renowned kitchens with José Andrés and Wylie Dufresne. In 2001, Santiago moved to Atlanta and opened the much-loved restaurant Pura Vida, which showcased tapas with Latin American flavors. Over the years, he has earned accolades like being a three-time James Beard Award semifinalist and appeared on Top Chef Season 6.
